Where to Find the Earthwake Technique in TotK
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Earthwake Technique is a closely guarded secret known only to true members of the Yiga Clan, particularly the Blademasters. However, players have the opportunity to infiltrate the clan as Link and learn the technique for themselves. With this skill, Link can fight without relying on weapons, making him a formidable opponent in battle.
If you want to master the Earthwake Technique, the Yiga Clan Hideout in the Gerudo Highlands offers training grounds for it. To reach the hideout quickly, teleport to the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and head southeast.
To find the entrance to the Yiga Clan Hideout, players should navigate toward the coordinates -3688, 1365, 0331 where they will find the ornate doorway pictured below.
Gaining access to the hideout of the Yiga Clan requires players to collect all segments of the Clan's armor. Unlike in Breath of the Wild, sneaking into the hideout is not an option for Link, and he must wear the complete armor set to enter.
Once inside, players can follow the only path deeper into the hideout until they reach the training arena where they will find a Yiga Blademaster atop the central tower.
How to Get the Earthwake Technique in TotK
To gain access to the secret Earthwake Technique, Link must first prove himself by defeating six Yiga members within a minute. The Yiga Blademaster mistakenly assumes that Link is a new recruit, but little does he know that Link is a seasoned warrior ready for the challenge.
Players who have yet to train at the hideout must demonstrate their abilities by defeating three Yiga members in a set time. Successfully completing this task will earn players the coveted Yiga Fabric, which can be used to enhance their paraglider.
Players who wish to take on the challenge of defeating six Yiga members in order to receive the Lightning Helm will need to bring enough money to cover the 100 rupee training cost after their first attempt. It's worth noting that the timer will stop as soon as the sixth member is defeated, so players will need to be quick and efficient in order to succeed on their first try. If they don't manage to defeat all six members in time, they'll need to pay for another attempt in order to have another shot at earning the coveted Lightning Helm.
Upon successfully completing the initiation test, the Yiga Blademaster will acknowledge Link as a bona fide member of the Yiga Clan and grant him access to the coveted secret technique. The Earthwake Manual, a comprehensive guide to mastering the Earthwake move, will then be bestowed upon Link to aid him in his training.
How to Use Earthwake in TotK
To access the Earthwake Manual, players can easily locate it in the Key Items tab of their inventory. The ability can be activated or deactivated by toggling it on and off, just like the Sages' Solemn Vows. This can be done by selecting the manual with the A-button and choosing to either equip or remove it.
To unleash the power of Earthwake, Link needs to put away his weapons, but he can still use bows and shields. Once activated, players can press and hold the Y-button to expend stamina and charge up Earthwake for a devastating ground slam attack.
Link can use the Y-button to extend the Earthwake in a straight line, but the distance it travels will affect his stamina. The maximum distance that can be covered is just under one full circle of stamina. Keep in mind that if the Earthwake encounters any obstacles like buildings or walls, it will stop without causing any damage.
If there are any enemies within Link's vicinity when he slams the ground, the Earthwake will track and lock-on to their position instead of continuing in a straight line.
Unleashing the power of the Y-button will result in the Earthwake breaking the ground beneath it and hurling rocks upward to inflict damage upon any adversaries in the vicinity. This effect can also be triggered when the Earthwake reaches its maximum range.
The versatility of the Earthwake Technique extends beyond the Yiga Armor. With the manual equipped and no weapons in hand, players have the freedom to utilize the technique at their own discretion.
