Guide: Completing the "Forgetting About Fjola" Side Quest
Skyrim, being an expansive game, offers numerous optional areas to discover and explore. Often, stumbling upon these areas initiates hidden side quests that beckon the Dragonborn to delve further and unravel the mysteries that lie ahead. The quest named "Forgetting About Fjola" exemplifies this captivating element.
Skyrim's "Forgetting About Fjola" quest entails the Dragonborn assisting Christer, a man who is searching for his missing wife, Fjola. Christer suspects that his wife has been abducted by a gang of bandits and, after months of unsuccessful searching, seeks the Dragonborn's help in locating her. Recognizing his own limitations in infiltrating the bandits' hideout, Christer implores the Dragonborn to undertake the task of finding Fjola on his behalf.
How To Start The Forgetting About Fjola Side Quest
To embark on the "Forgetting About Fjola" side quest and locate Christer, the Dragonborn needs to venture to Mistwatch and discover a means of entry. If the location remains uncharted, one can reach it by heading directly south from Windhelm and utilizing the opening in the western wall to gain access to the keep. Since Mistwatch is infested with bandits, players must exercise caution when exploring it for the first time.
To initiate the "Forgetting About Fjola" side quest, the Dragonborn must enter Mistwatch North Tower. Accessing the entrance requires the player to manipulate the lever opposite the drawbridge, thereby creating a pathway. Within the tower, one will encounter Christer standing in the hallway adjacent to a secured door. Upon approaching him, he will implore the Dragonborn's assistance in locating his beloved spouse. Upon acceptance, the Mistwatch Key will be provided and added to the Dragonborn's inventory, enabling them to unlock the door adjacent to the entrance of the hallway.
How To Find Fjola
After unlocking the door, the Dragonborn should continue along the straight path until they come across a ladder that leads to Mistwatch Lower Balcony. By using the Mistwatch Key, players can easily bypass the Master Lock and proceed without any complications.
Next, the Dragonborn should head west and unlock the door to Mistwatch West Tower before entering. From there, they can ascend the stairs on the left and follow the corridor until they discover a door that leads to Mistwatch Higher Balcony.
Continuing east and approaching the door to the Mistwatch East Tower, the Dragonborn can enter and soon encounter a Bandit Leader. This leader, revealed to be Fjola, refuses to align with Christer anymore. Players are then faced with the choice of persuading Christer to leave or eliminating Fjola due to her dissent.
How To Complete The Forgetting About Fjola Side Quest
Getting Rid Of Christer
The conclusion of the "Forgetting About Fjola" quest can vary depending on the choices made by the player. Opting for Christer's departure seems to result in a superior outcome, although neither decision significantly impacts the overarching narrative of Skyrim. As a result, players can freely select the option that aligns with their personal preferences, without experiencing any significant repercussions.
If players choose the "What should I say to Christer" option and then select "I will try to persuade him to leave," Fjola will give the Dragonborn her Wedding Band. The Dragonborn can then give the Wedding Band to Christer and choose to either inform him about Fjola's death or say that they found the Wedding Band during the investigation.
If Christer is informed about Fjola's death, he will give the Dragonborn the Wedding Band. If the Dragonborn tells him that they couldn't find Fjola, he will reward them with Gold before leaving to continue searching. When the Dragonborn returns to Fjola after either of these outcomes, she will express gratitude for their assistance and acknowledge her indebtedness to them.
Killing Fjola
If players decide to eliminate Fjola, they can search her corpse to obtain her Wedding Band. Subsequently, when players engage in a conversation with Christer, they will be presented with three dialogue choices. Opting for either of the first two choices will prompt him to depart, whereas selecting the third alternative of "I had no choice but to defend myself. She initiated the attack" will provoke him to turn hostile and initiate an attack.
Players will always obtain the Wedding Band regardless of the outcome they choose. However, if Christer discovers that Fjola has died, he will not reward the Dragonborn with Gold.
The highly acclaimed game, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, can be played on various platforms including PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
