Topaz Earring Armor Combinations
In Tears of the Kingdom, the jewelry accessories serve the same purpose as head armor, such as helmets or masks. Consequently, it is not possible for Link to wear both earrings/circlets and a helmet at the same time. Similar to real-life jewelry, the pieces found in Hyrule tend to come with a hefty price tag.
Gems in Tears of the Kingdom can imbue various effects upon being infused into weapons or arrows. Some specific armor pieces contain embedded gems, enabling the armor itself to be shielded against intense heat, freezing temperatures, or even electrical resistance. Although not part of an Armor Set, the Topaz Earrings offer Shock Resistance, making them a valuable acquisition for TotK players who dare to face formidable thunderstorms.
Topaz Earrings Location
For the purchase of Topaz Earrings, visit the jewelry shop in Gerudo Town (-3875, -2864, 0043), known as Starlight Memories. Gerudo Town is situated in the Gerudo Wasteland, a region located in the far southwest of Hyrule on The Surface. Players can swiftly reach Gerudo Town by following the southwest path from Kara Kara Bazaar.
If Link is visiting Gerudo Town for the first time, they will encounter an unending desert storm sweeping through the Gerudo Region. Gerudo Town will be in ruins and completely devoid of inhabitants, as they have sought refuge in the Gerudo Shelter underground. Although players can purchase jewelry from the Starlight Memories store in the Shelter, the stock of Topaz Earrings will only be replenished after completing the main quest: "Riju of Gerudo Town."
Hence, if players desire the Topaz Earrings, it is crucial to prioritize the Gerudo Arc and eliminate the threat of the Lightning Temple swiftly. Subsequently, the Starlight Memories vendor will return to the original location of the shop (-3792, 2903, 0043) in Gerudo Town.
The Topaz Earrings are priced at 1200 Rupees and possess an initial defense value of 3. Depending on players' progress in their TotK campaign, it is possible that they could already possess superior armor in comparison to the earrings.
How to Upgrade the Topaz Earrings (& Is It Worth It?)
Thankfully, it's possible to enhance Topaz Earrings, which provide a Shock Resistance at level 1. For those unfamiliar, Shock is the force that compels Link to relinquish his weapons upon being struck by electricity, whether it be from a lightning bolt or the assaults of an Electric Lizalfos.
To enhance the Topaz Earrings, players must finish the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" quest at the Woodland Stable, which is one of the side quests in the "Potential Princess Sightings!" series at the Lucky Clover Gazette near Rito Village. Upon completing "Serenade to a Great Fairy," the remaining three Great Fairy Fountains will be indicated on Link's map. Similar to the initial Great Fairy, these three also have specific conditions that must be fulfilled in order to access them.
By unlocking the Great Fairies, players can upgrade their armor by one level. In order to fully maximize the potential of their armor, players must release all four Great Fairies.

Where to Find Topaz Earrings Upgrade Materials
Topaz: In contrast to Amber, Topaz can be obtained from Rare Ore Deposits. It is more frequently found than Rubies, Sapphires, and Diamonds. Additionally, players have the chance to discover a piece of Topaz when looting treasure chests.
Flint can be easily obtained as a drop from Ore Deposits, which are commonly found. These deposits are often found in caves or wells, making it convenient for players to gather Flint.
On the other hand, farming Star Fragments may prove to be more challenging. These elusive materials can sometimes be stumbled upon when they crash onto The Surface at night. If players are diving from Skyview Towers or Sky Islands, they might catch a glimpse of a Star Fragment streaking past them. To increase the chances of acquiring Star Fragments, Link can accelerate his dive by holding down the R-button.
Star Fragments serve multiple purposes. Apart from upgrading other jewelry like the Diamond Circlet, they are also a vital ingredient for upgrading the amiibo armor found in The Depths, such as Sheik's Mask.
Because of the premium materials (ie: Star Fragments) for upgrading, players may want to hold off on upgrading the Topaz Earrings until after they've upgraded their other armor.
Armor Combinations for Topaz Earrings
Wearing the Topaz Earrings without an Armor Set will deprive Link of obtaining the Set Bonus from his other equipped armor. Nevertheless, this allows the earrings to be coupled with armor that possesses unique effects.
Here are some recommended combinations for players to try:
- Charged Shirt + Charged Trousers + Topaz Earrings: Each piece of the Charged Armor grants Link the Stormy Weather Attack ability. When facing a thunderstorm, Link's melee attacks will be electrified. However, fighting in a thunderstorm can be perilous due to the risk of getting struck by lightning while wearing metal. To avoid this danger, players can opt for the Shock-resistant Topaz Earrings instead of the Charged Headdress.
When Champion's Leathers are upgraded to level 4, they provide Link with a defense of 32. In TotK, there are multiple pairs of Trousers that offer a maximum defense of 28. By combining these with the Topaz Earrings, which have a defense of 20 at their highest level, Link can endure powerful attacks and benefit from the Shock Resistance effect of the jewelry. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be played on the Nintendo Switch.
