Discovering the more than 30 Old Maps scattered throughout the game can be a daunting task for Link. However, this comprehensive guide will provide insight into each Old Map's location and the treasures that await him upon arrival. So far, this guide contains every known Old Map in Tears of the Kingdom and will continue to be updated with any new discoveries.

How Old Maps Work in Tears of the Kingdom

Hidden away in treasure chests on Sky Islands, old maps are a valuable discovery for Link. These maps can be stumbled upon during exploration or obtained through mini-boss fights. While some chests may be easy to find, others require a bit more skill to uncover. When facing Flux Constructs during boss fights, old maps may also be obtained. Upon discovery, an X will be marked on the map of the Depths, indicating the location of a special treasure chest containing a coveted piece of armor. This method of treasure hunting yields some of the most valuable equipment in Tears of the Kingdom.

Activate the Purah Pad's Sensor + system to easily search for Old Maps, even with the help of a guide. This feature can be obtained from Robbie's quest line and by setting a treasure chest as the active target of the Sensor, finding Old Maps becomes a breeze.

Rising Island Chain (Wind Temple Area)

Old Map 1: Flux Construct I

Flux Construct I - Battle Arena in Rising Island Chain. Coordinates: -3488, 3512, 0930

Treasure: Miner's Mask - Abandoned Kara Kara Mine - Coordinates: -3230. -2476, -0475

West Hebra Sky Archipelago

On the Flux Construct I's shoulder lies an ancient map. The construct itself can be located on the battle platform directly below the main platform that supports the Ijo-o Shrine. The precise coordinates of this location are -3863, 2719, 0544.

Treasure: Miner's Trousers - Hylia Canyon Mine - Coordinates: -1267, -2248, -0707.

Old Map 2: Northern Island

This old map is located on the northernmost island in the West Hebra Archipelago's main group. Coordinates: -3860, 2921, 0747.

North Tabantha Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: South of Rito

Link can locate this map on one of the islands situated in the sky, just south of Rito Village. Access to the island is only possible when Link wears the Zora Armor. He can reach the island by swimming up the waterfall from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower. The precise coordinates of the island are -3429, 1445, 1193.

Old Map 1: Southwest of Lightcast Island

Located on one of the highest islands in the Tabantha chain, Link must reach this specific island as shown in the image above. However, it's not reachable by any Skyview Tower and requires a flying device to access due to its significant height. The coordinates for this location are -3960, 0609, 1708.

Old Map 2: Tabantha Main Islands

This island is found in the heart of the Tabantha Sky Archipelago. Head to the northwestern edge of the island and look down.

East Hebra Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: Big Drop

Located at the eastern tip of the island north of Taninoud Shrine, the first chest can be found hanging precariously. Although the map shows another island below, it's difficult to gauge the distance. However, shooting the vine will cause the chest to drop a considerable distance, but rest assured that it will land safely on the island below without any harm to Link.

South Hyrule Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: Reel It In

The treasure chest is strategically placed on the arm of a colossal island that can be maneuvered using the Ultrahand Apparatus. To locate it, one needs to spot it hanging from a vine on the far right arm of the island. By using R1 to spin the island forward, Link can draw in the chest like a fish, lifting it onto the top and making it readily accessible for him to retrieve.

Old Map 2: Flux Construct II

Old Map 3: Luminous Stone Island

A small floating island made of luminous stone holds the third ancient map in the West Hyrule island chain. To access it, Link can utilize a launching mechanism which will allow him to effortlessly reach the tiny platform.

Old Map 4: Eastern Island

This map is found in a chest dangling between two islands. Link can shoot the vine that holds the chest and allow it to safely fall to the lower island.

Located on a nearly identical island to the one where Old Map 1 was discovered, this chest can be found northeast of Zonaite Forge Island. While it appears to belong to the North Necluda archipelago, the game indicates that it is in fact located in Necluda at coordinates 2634, -1442, 1480.

North Necluda Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: Hanging from Apparatus Piece

To obtain this map, Link must use the Ultrahand Apparatus to manipulate a section of the island and align it with a floating piece below. Once aligned, shooting the vine holding the chest will cause it to safely drop to land.

Located on the northernmost island of the North Necluda Archipelago, the second map highlights a peculiar feature - a hole right in the center. It is here that Link will discover the coveted chest dangling precariously.

First, he must drop below and use several wooden scraps to create a safe place for the chest to land. The landing coordinates are: 1852, -0980, 0927

Old Map 3: North of North Necluda:

Located on a small island to the north of the primary North Necluda chain, lies the ultimate map. Hovering over the swampy Lanayru Wetlands region, it can be easily accessed by traveling north from the main island cluster. The coordinates to this hidden treasure are 1663, -0353, 0400.

South Lanayru Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: Western Dangler

Treasure: Midna's Helmet - Lone Island Coliseum - Coordinates: 4563, -3618, -0471

The only way to reach the Lone Island Coliseum is to enter the Depths through the Eventide Island Chasm.

Old Map 2: Hanging Over Floating Block

The coveted map can be discovered on an island situated off the northwestern coast of the central island chain. On the same island lies the essential green crystal required for the shrine quest. A Zonai floating block is located at a considerable depth beneath the chest. While Link can let the chest drop all the way to the block, it is advisable to employ a preferred method to raise it to a secure level, to avoid any potential risks.

A good option is placing a balloon on two corners, then using a flame emitter to lift the block. 4751, -0776, 1913

Lanayru Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: Out in the Middle

This particular map can be found on an island situated in the heart of the Lanayru chain and Wellspring Island chain. As it falls beyond the influence of Wellspring's gravity-altering effects, it is considered a part of Lanayru. For the precise location, please refer to the map above. Coordinates: 3166, 0458, 0935.

Water Temple/Wellspring Island

If Link goes to the location shown on the map, he'll find a small staircase that leads straight to a chest. This is where the old map is found. Coordinates: 3680, 0585, 1249

Old Map 2: Fountain Heads

Located on a petite island, amidst numerous bobbing heads that gush cascades, is a map that is waiting to be discovered by Link. The island lies on the west side of the Wellspring Island collection, just near the border of the Lanayru Sky Archipelago and below the Water Temple. The specific coordinates of the map are 3199, 0597, 1417.

Treasure: Cap of the Wind - Tingel Island Chasm (Davdi Island Depths) - Coordinates: 4564, 0620, -0722.

South Eldin Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: Southern Dangler

To obtain this map, one must locate a chest suspended between two islands. The coordinates to this location are 1813, 1012, 1183. Link should aim to reach the southernmost island and cautiously navigate his way down to the smaller platforms situated beneath the primary landmass.

Sokkala Sky Archipelago

Discover the hidden treasure of Sokkala Sky Archipelago by obtaining the Old Map found in a chest on the back of the powerful Flux Construct II. To locate the chest, head towards the large circular platform that marks the Flux Construct battle arena and defeat the construct to claim your prize. The chest is located at coordinates 3661, 1798, 0988.

North Akkala Sky Archipelago

Old Map 1: The Lone Island

This chest is found on the only real island in the North Akkala area. The Lomei Sky Labyrinth floats to the northeast. Coordinates: 4264, 3119, 0784

Old Map 2: Flux Construct III

If Link heads northwest from old map 2, he'll find a floating battle platform where a Flux Construct III resides. The old map is on its back. 3298, 3428, 0794

Having to face a Gloom-enhanced King Gleeok in the Gleeok Den can be quite a challenge for Link. To effectively take out this formidable foe, it is highly recommended to use a multi-shot bow. The Lynel Bow variations are considered the best option and can be obtained in bulk by completing the Floating Coliseum.

Old Map 1: High in the Sky

The island where the chest can be found is situated between Bravery Island, where Link obtains a piece of the Tears of the Kingdom's Glide set, and the Flux Construct battle platform, where he acquires the crystal needed for the North Hyrule Sky Crystal shrine quest. Its coordinates are 0435, 2196, 2243.

Thunderhead Isles

Old Map 1: Snake Head Chamber

As Link traverses the western side of the island chain, he will come across a fascinating chamber. Here, a chest lies beneath a locked gate, which can be opened using one of the electric mechanisms present in the area. These mechanisms are sensitive to any kind of shock and can be triggered easily. By looking up from the gate, Link can spot a small, breakable section of the roof. Breaking the rocks in that area will allow lightning to strike the snake's head, thereby unlocking the gate. The precise coordinates of this location are 0954, -3112, 0756.
