The Gerudo tribe, one of the four main groups in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Hyrule, remains shrouded in mystery. From the scorching desert to the frozen plateaus, Link can explore the region that the ancient tribe calls home and uncover intriguing artifacts and hidden locations. Unlike past games where Link was treated as an outsider, Tears of the Kingdom offers him the unique opportunity to delve into the secrets of the Gerudo alongside the tribe.
Link's quest to uncover the Gerudo's history begins with "The Heroines' Secret." Together with Rotana, a Gerudo archaeologist exploring the secret history of the Seven Heroines – a mythological group of ancient Gerudo warriors revered by the tribe – they will work to uncover a long-lost truth hidden in the ancient stone tablets buried beneath Gerudo Town.
How to Start The Heroines' Secret
The first quest to be completed beneath Gerudo Town is called 'The Heroines' Secret'. It's worth noting that while Link can undertake this quest before finishing "Riju of Gerudo Town," some of the corresponding quests cannot be completed until after.
To initiate this side quest, Link must make his way into the shelter beneath Gerudo Town. The Gerudo, who refer to men as 'voe' in their language, generally do not allow them into the town. Previously, Link was unable to pass through the front gates, but now most of the population has taken refuge in the shelter beneath the throne room.
The entrance to the Gerudo Town shelter can be found beneath the main steps that lead to the throne room. If Link walks straight through the center of town, the steps and entrance are very noticeable. Unfortunately, due to the aforementioned rule, Link is unable to enter at this location.
Entering the shelter in Gerudo Town can be made simple by following a particular method. Link should head to a small room located in a courtyard towards the west of the throne. Upon approaching the throne, make a right turn to enter the courtyard and then take another right to descend the steps leading to the door.

As Link explores the area, he comes across a former classroom with a block-like desk at the front. Moving the desk reveals a hole in the floor, leading to a shelter below. At first, the guards will confront Link, but they quickly realize his identity and allow him to pass through. While a small child can lead Link to this entrance at night, it is not necessary to find her in order to access the shelter.
Upon entering the main chamber, Link will come across Rotana (-3886, -2970, 0033), who appears to be intently studying something on the shelter's wall. Upon closer inspection, Link will realize that Rotana is reading a stela, an ancient stone tablet with inscribed text. In order to complete the mission entitled "The Heroines' Secret," Link must photograph four secret stelae and deliver them to Rotana.
It is unlikely that Link will reach Gerudo Town without obtaining the Tears of the Kingdom's camera upgrade. However, if he has not yet acquired the upgrade, Link should return to Josha and Robbie at Lookout Landing to complete their quest line, as it is a prerequisite for finishing "The Heroines' Secret."
To locate the first stela, refer to the following image:
Destroying the pile of breakable rock in the next chamber to the left of Rotana will reveal the first stela, which is easy to locate. Capture a photo of it before moving on to the next one or showing it to Rotana.
To find the second stela, refer to the map and head towards the area marked with a red circle. Keep an eye out for a pile of boulders and destroy them to uncover the second stela.
To locate the second stele, return to Rotana and look for the pathway on the left side. As you venture through the entrance, you'll come across a small classroom on the right and another opening on the left.

Proceed forward and take the left path until you reach the second opening. Once you pass through it, you will come across a fork in the road. Stick to the left-hand side and enter the opening that is guarded by a group of crates.
To locate the second stele, head towards the left wall and observe the tablet closely. Link will notice that a part of the tablet is missing and there is a pile of sand in front of the stele. The missing piece can be found in the sand pile, which can be blown away using any type of fan. In case Link doesn't have a Zonai fan, a Korok Frond attached to a stick or a swinging weapon can also be used. These fronds can be obtained by cutting down trees.
Once the sand pile is cleared, Link can use his Ultrahand ability to fit the broken piece like a puzzle. Once the stele is repaired, capture a photo and head back to Rotana.

In order to locate the third stele, Link must gain access to the shelter's restricted jail cell. Despite being told by guards that breaking the rules is the only way in, they are unaware of Link's Ascend ability.
Proceed through the opening on Rotana's right side and the small jail cell will come into view on the right.
Enter the small opening between the jail cell on the right and the hotel on the left from the designated area. You'll find a red banner with a bottle over the top of the door which leads to the cantina.
Upon entering the cantina, take a sharp right turn and face a wall with six equal-sized shelves. One of the shelves, located at the bottom left and holding two white bottles, does not have a back. Remove the bottles and crouch to pass through the small opening. Use Ascend to enter the jail cell above.
The fourth stele can be located in the classroom that Link previously passed on his way to the second stele. Timing is crucial here, as classes are held at various times throughout the day. In the morning, classes are reserved for children and Link will not be permitted to attend. It's recommended to wait until classes are not in session. The corresponding images were captured at Gerudo Town around 3:30 PM.
To capture a photo for a mission, Link needs to align the sections of the stele at the entrance of the classroom in the correct order.
Once the blocks are correctly aligned, an exclamation mark in red and white color will pop up, indicating that Link can take the photo. After taking the picture, Link can return to Rotana.
:
Rotana informs Link that contrary to previous beliefs, there is not just seven but eight heroines in existence. She hands over a mysterious orb as a reward to Link which will lead to the next mission in the chain, "The Mysterious Eighth." With this, "The Heroines' Secret" quest is successfully completed.
