What to Do with Horriblin Horns

The Tears of the Kingdom's turmoil unleashed unfamiliar creatures, known as Horriblins, that were absent in Breath of the Wild. These primate-like beings have a penchant for inhabiting caves and shadowy locations. Similar to other menacing creatures, conquering them yields valuable claws and horns, which are essential for enhancing armor and concocting elixirs.

The type of Horriblin Horn dropped by Horriblins varies depending on the species. Regular/Red Horriblins will drop Horriblin Horns, while Blue Horriblins will drop Blue Horriblin Horns, and so on. To reach the maximum level of a certain armor set, Tears of the Kingdom players must farm every type of Horriblin Horn.

Horriblin Locations

Exciting news about Horriblins is that they are found abundantly in nearly all caves on The Surface. The weakest Horriblins reside in caves located in Hyrule Field. Additionally, players can encounter them in a specific cavern that is obstructed by boulders near coordinates -0561, -1506, 0018 at the Great Plateau. For acquiring Horriblin Horns of superior quality, players are advised to explore more challenging regions.

Players will only encounter the Silver and Black Horriblins, who are stronger than their counterparts, once they have advanced in their playthrough. This entails either completing the main quests/temples or increasing their inventory of Heart Containers and Stamina Wheels. Until these milestones are achieved, players will come across the more-common Red and Blue Horriblins.

Desert Coliseum

Deplian Badlands Cave (Minetak Shrine)

The Desert Coliseum (-1344, -3711, -0480) houses an assortment of formidable creatures known as Horriblins. To acquire Sheik's Mask, Link must triumph over five arduous rounds of these adversaries. Each round presents pairs of Horriblins representing each type, amounting to a minimum of two of each variant. It is crucial to note that once defeated, these creatures cannot be vanquished again. Following the successful retrieval of Sheik's Mask from a treasure chest, the Desert Coliseum will remain devoid of any further inhabitants.

To acquire Horriblin Horns, head to the Minetak Shrine which is situated underground. To reach this Shrine, players should first enter the Deplian Badlands Cave (0306, 3581, 0089). The most efficient route to the cave entrance is by heading north from the Typhlo Ruins Skyview Tower (0338, 3123, 0174).

How to Defeat Horriblins

The tunnels underneath are completely dark, necessitating the assistance of Brightbloom Seeds to illuminate the path. Moreover, the Deplian Badlands Cave serves as a dwelling place for Blue, Black, and Silver Horriblins. By triumphing over both groups of Horriblins, players will gain access to the nearby skull chests.

The ceilings are infested with Horriblins, armed with spears or lances, making it challenging for Link to engage them in close combat. To successfully defeat them, players need to knock the Horriblin down by aiming an arrow at their head. This approach not only delivers a critical hit but also temporarily stuns the enemy. Once the Horriblin is disoriented on the ground, swiftly approach and unleash a series of melee strikes before it regains its footing.

To enhance their headshot accuracy, players can enhance their arrows by infusing Shock Fruit or Fire Fruit. Additionally, elemental materials such as Ice Fruit or Dazzling Fruit can also be effective against Horriblins.

For those who possess the Vow of Tulin, they will be accompanied in battle by Tulin's Avatar, which frequently delivers critical hits to enemies. This makes him a formidable ally when facing Horriblins. Another effective strategy is utilizing the power of the Vow of Riju. A single lightning strike is all that is needed to dislodge Horriblins from the ceiling.

What to Do with Horriblin Horns

Horriblin Horns can be used to cook Elixirs when combined with critters such as butterflies, lizards, and frogs. The type of critter will determine the type of Elixir, not the Horriblin Horn itself. Additionally, Horriblin Horns can be fused with weapons, but a more valuable use for them is to upgrade armor.

To upgrade armor, players need to assist the Stable Trotters. This will unlock the Great Fairies, who can then upgrade Link's armor in exchange for specific materials and Rupees. Horriblin Horns are specifically used to upgrade the Froggy Set, which can be obtained by completing the "Lucky Clover Gazette" Side Adventure.
