The Korok Seed system was an indispensable aspect of Breath of the Wild, featuring the return of the beloved forest spirits known as Koroks from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players can expect an even greater emphasis on Koroks, as they offer new puzzles and alternative ways to obtain Korok Seeds. Whether it's cutting down Dandelions or assisting a lost Korok in finding their companion, players will have to put their skills to the test to uncover these elusive Seeds.
As in the previous game, Korok Seeds are scattered throughout the vast terrain of Hyrule, hidden in various locations, and are used to upgrade Link's inventory through the aid of Hestu. Collecting all 900 Korok Seeds in Breath of the Wild was no small feat, and the challenge remains just as formidable in Tears of the Kingdom, though the rewards may not be any more substantial.
More Korok Seeds Than BOTW, But The Same Number of Koroks
In Tears of the Kingdom, players can search for 1000 Korok Seeds scattered throughout Hyrule (excluding the Depths). This is an increase of 100 compared to Breath of the Wild. However, despite the additional seeds, the number of Koroks remains the same. Among the 1000 seeds, there are 800 that can be found individually and 200 that can be obtained by reuniting 100 pairs of separated Koroks. When Link successfully brings the friends back together, he earns two Korok Seeds - one for each Korok - resulting in a total of 1000 Korok Seeds to collect.
What Do You Get For Collecting Every Korok Seed In Tears of the Kingdom?
After players spent countless hours collecting all 900 Korok Seeds in Breath of the Wild, they were rewarded with an item called "Hestu's Gift". However, players were disappointed to find that the item looked cheaply made and the description confirmed that it was exactly what it appeared to be. Despite the disappointment, the challenge of finding all the Korok Seeds remained a significant feat for players.
Collecting all 1000 Korok Seeds in Tears of the Kingdom doesn't offer any extraordinary reward to players except for the satisfaction of achieving a remarkable feat. Hestu's Gift, though not providing any new abilities or benefits, can be considered a badge of honor for those who collect all the seeds. While it's disappointing that there isn't a unique reward for completing the task, Hestu's lively dance is a delightful addition that brings some amusement to the game. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be played on the Nintendo Switch.
