Fans had varying reactions to Allen's surprising announcement. Some criticized his decision to use comedy despite facing multiple sexual assault allegations. Others, on the other hand, expressed their enthusiasm for Allen's new career venture.

In April, Allen's personal life became newsworthy when he and his pregnant wife, Alexis Gale, made public their separation after being married for three years. The estranged couple also disclosed that they were anticipating the arrival of their third child. (Allen is a father to son Aadyn, 8, from a previous relationship, as well as daughters Naomi, 3, and Zara, 21 months, whom he shares with Gale.)

One month later, Allen faced rape and sexual harassment allegations from his previous manager, who filed a lawsuit in May. Another woman came forward in June, accusing Allen of sexual assault.

According to court documents obtained by Variety, Allen's former manager stated in her May lawsuit that he had once touched her breasts inappropriately during a flight and pressed his erect penis against her in a public setting. Additionally, she claimed that he masturbated in front of her at a hotel where they had stayed together.

In March 2021, she made an accusation that Allen had raped her, coinciding with his guest appearance on American Idol. She recounted waking up naked and bleeding in his hotel room, and claimed that he pressured her to take a Plan B pill.

During that time, Allen refuted her claims and responded to the rape allegation in his July countersuit. According to the documents obtained by We, his countersuit acknowledges that he, the plaintiff, and several industry executives had dinner at Craig's in West Hollywood, California after filming an episode of American Idol, where he appeared as a guest. He also admits to engaging in consensual sexual activity with the plaintiff on that evening, but denies insisting that she take Plan B immediately.

Jane Doe 2, the second woman involved, claimed that she was both videotaped and sexually assaulted by Allen during a trip to Las Vegas in July 2022. According to documents obtained by Us, Jane Doe 2 accused Allen of not wearing a condom during their intimate encounter because he wanted her to get pregnant.

In response to the allegations, Allen's countersuit mentioned that he and Jane Doe 2 had initially considered staying in separate hotel rooms during their Vegas trip, but she later decided to join him in his room. The counterclaim further stated that the incident was not recorded without her consent, adding, "Defendant also admits that Allen recorded the encounter with Plaintiff's explicit permission."

Allen, who was recently dropped by his record label, BBR Music Group, due to a lawsuit from his former manager, has issued a heartfelt apology to his wife Alexis for the pain caused by his affair. In a now-deleted Instagram post on May 18, Allen expressed his deep regret and acknowledged the shame he brought upon her, emphasizing that she did not deserve such humiliation.

Addressing the allegations against him, Allen denounced them as false and profoundly distressing for himself and those close to him. He expressed gratitude for the support he has received and expressed eagerness for the opportunity to clear his name as the legal process unfolds. Allen and his team are determined to put this situation behind them and focus on his music once again.
