WARNING: The following post includes SPOILERS for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker. Several players of Final Fantasy 14 took to social media to share amusing clips of their experiences when using the "/blowkiss" emote at the second boss of Thaleia, the latest raid introduced in the Growing Light update. The clips quickly gained widespread attention, as players speculated on the reason behind the inclusion of this hidden feature.
Patch 6.5 of Final Fantasy 14 brought forth new challenges for players to tackle. With the Abyssal Fracture trial and Thaleia alliance raid, two ongoing storylines reached their conclusion. Moreover, upcoming updates will introduce additional content such as the Aloalo Island dungeon, the Gilded Araya trial, and a collaboration with Fall Guys, until the Dawntrail expansion is launched. Amidst the Thaleia alliance raid's four boss battles, players made a fascinating discovery - an extraordinary interaction.
Twitter user FSHYbeans shared a video from another user named RhalgrsDragon showcasing the consequences of using the "/blowkiss" emote on the second boss of Thaleia, Llymlaen the Navigator. In the video, RhalgrsDragon directed the emote towards Llymlaen, prompting the Navigator to scold the player with the phrase, "Oi, cut it out, you!" As a result, the boss would then stun the offending player and inflict significant damage using the ability called Navigator's Dagger. FSHYbeans highlighted the interesting connection between Llymlaen's ability and the fish of the same name that players of Final Fantasy 14 can catch in the game. This connection is particularly fitting considering that Llymlaen the Navigator is the patron deity of Limsa Lominsa, a prominent coastal city.
Twitter user Aitaikimochi further confirmed this observation, stating that the Japanese version of Llymlaen's line was translated as "Hey, focus now!", conveying a less irate tone compared to the English version. Although surviving the Navigator's Dagger did not reward players with any achievements, the inclusion of this Easter egg in FF14 Patch 6.5 highlights the attention to lore during the development of the "Myths of the Realm" alliance raid series.
It is yet unknown whether there are additional interactions with the Twelve that players of Final Fantasy 14 can uncover. With the upcoming London Fanfest, Final Fantasy 14 players can expect to discover more Easter eggs and secrets in the future.
Final Fantasy 14 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, and PS5, and will be released for Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2024.
