Where to Use Cool Safflinas

In Tears of the Kingdom, players will discover that certain collectible items, such as safflinas, thrive in cold or dry environments. Specifically, there are three types of safflinas: Warm, Cool, and Electric. Depending on the desired type, players will have to equip gear that can withstand either cold or heat when searching for these plants.

Cool Safflinas, for instance, exclusively grow in cold regions. To gather them, Link must don appropriate cold-resistant armor. In Tears of the Kingdom, Cool Safflinas serve multiple purposes. They can be utilized in cooking to create meals with a cold-resistant effect or be employed to enhance one of the game's numerous armor sets.

Cool Safflinas typically grow at the base of cliffsides in the Hebra Mountains and the Tabantha Frontier areas. However, they can also be found at the Gerudo Summit in the Gerudo Highlands. To locate these safflinas, it is advisable for players to wear level 2 cold-resistant gear. Alternatively, they can wear one piece of cold-resistant armor and wield a weapon that has been infused with a Ruby or an Igeno Talus Heart.

If players possess the Camera obtained from the "Camera Work in the Depths" side quest, they have the ability to take a picture of a Cool Safflina. By doing so, they can track it as long as they have the Sensor+ equipped. The Sensor+ can be obtained from Robbie after fulfilling several prerequisites, including one of the "Regional Phenomena" main quests, such as "Tulin of Rito Village."

Two Cool Safflinas can be found beneath the snow at the entrance of Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower (-3966, -1260, 0426). To access the tower for the first time, players will need to use Ascend. This involves navigating through Meadela's Mantle Cave (-3996, -1257, 0427) and traveling down the underground river. Once players reach the end of the river, they will encounter four posts protruding from the water. By placing a wooden plank in the center and utilizing Ascend, players can break into the tower.

When you cook a Cool Safflina, it will give you a meal that provides resistance to cold. This is beneficial for players who don't have cold-resistant armor. You cannot cook Cool Safflinas with monster parts to make elixirs, as they are considered food.

Additionally, safflinas are used to upgrade the Desert Voe Set to level 2. It may be worth upgrading the set because it unlocks the Set Bonus after upgrading all the pieces to level 2. A Desert Voe Set with the bonus grants Shock Resistance, which means Link won't drop his weapons when hit by electricity.

To enhance their armor to level 2, players must assist the Stable Trotters in performing a serenade to two Great Fairies. The opportunity to embark on the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" side quest will arise after accepting the Lucky Clover Gazette side quest. To proceed, players must journey to Woodland Stable and construct a carriage for the Stable Trotters.

Completing this side quest will reveal the locations of the remaining three Great Fairy Fountains on the map. The order in which the Great Fairies are aided is inconsequential. As long as there are two "unlocked" Great Fairy Fountains, Link's armor can progress to a 2-star/level 2 upgrade.
