Recently, a senior executive from Twitch provided insights into the escalating competition with Kick.com. In the ever-evolving world of live-streaming platforms, Kick has quickly gained attention as a noteworthy newcomer, captivating both streamers and fans. Introduced less than a year ago by popular streamer Trainwreck, Kick is now recognized as a formidable contender challenging Twitch's dominance in the streaming universe.

What sets Kick apart from previous competitors like Mixer and Facebook Gaming, who struggled to make a lasting impact, is its distinctive approach. Kick grants streamers an unprecedented level of freedom to broadcast a wide range of content, including gambling-related material, without the constant threat of potential bans. Moreover, a crucial element of Kick's strategy lies in its ability to attract top-tier talent to the platform through an enticing revenue-sharing model. The Kick Creator Program offers streamers compensation on an hourly basis, taking into account factors such as stream duration, advertising rates, and viewer engagement. In addition to this hourly pay, streamers also benefit from other revenue sources on Kick, with 95% going to them and Kick retaining 5% from ad programs and subscriptions.

This approach has successfully attracted many streamers, including several top Twitch streamers, to sign deals with Kick as the competition in the live-streaming industry intensifies. However, Twitch remains undeterred. According to Lewis Mitchell, Twitch's APAC Content Director, who spoke with Dexerto, the platform welcomes this competition wholeheartedly. He further added that as the industry expands, it is natural for new platforms to emerge and attempt to capitalize on its success.
