Twitch Accused of Banning Black and Curvy Hot Tub Streamer

Streamer ExoHydraX claims Twitch banned her for being 'black and curvy' after her account was suspended on May 19, following the platform's controversial decision to lift the ban on Mira

Streamer ExoHydraX has accused Twitch of suspending her account for being "black and curvy" after she was removed from the platform in May. ExoHydraX, a former competitive Call of Duty player who now streams hot tub content, initially began her streaming career on YouTube before transitioning to Twitch and other non-gaming formats in search of a larger audience. However, her relationship with the Amazon-owned platform has been fraught with suspensions over the years, including a previous permanent ban for "suggestive clothing" that was ultimately reversed. Despite these challenges, ExoHydraX continues to create content on Twitch.

ExoHydraX recently shared on Twitter that she has been permanently banned from Twitch once again. According to her, the official reason behind the penalty was suggestive content, which she claims to have followed the platform's guidelines on. Despite her denial, she received the ban, stating that the broadcast that got her banned was not even remotely controversial. In her latest video, she explains that she was fully dressed and merely conversing with chat without any suggestive content. ExoHydraX further asserted that Twitch banned her due to her skin color and body type, claiming that it's pointless for black and curvy people to stream on Twitch. Many of her followers agreed with her sentiment, urging her to move to Kick, which is something that many popular streamers have done in recent months. At the time of her permanent removal from Twitch, ExoHydraX had over 264,000 followers.

Twitch, which is owned by Amazon, has not released any statement regarding the recent ban of a streamer who claims to have been discriminated against. The platform has previously faced accusations of racism when it banned ExoHydraX for a hot tub stream in 2021. Although the ban was lifted after three days, many of ExoHydraX's supporters criticized Twitch for not taking similar action against white streamers like Amouranth, who broadcasted similarly suggestive content without any serious repercussions. According to StreamerBans, Amouranth has been banned six times since 2019, but never for more than three days at a time.
