Tory Lanez expressed his thoughts after receiving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. He made it clear that he intends to appeal his conviction and remains unfazed by difficult times. Taking to Instagram on Thursday, August 10, the 31-year-old rapper stated, "I have never allowed challenging circumstances to intimidate me. Despite any attempts to misinterpret my words, I have consistently maintained my innocence and will continue to do so. During this week's court proceedings, I acknowledged my accountability for all the conversations and intimate moments I had with the individuals involved. That's the extent of it."

Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson, clarified that his statements in court were not intended as an apology for the charges he believes he was wrongly convicted of last year. Earlier this week, he expressed "full responsibility" for the incident, but acknowledged that he cannot change what happened and emphasized his desire to improve as an individual.

However, on Thursday, Lanez urged his fans to disregard his previous remarks, stating that he still refuses to apologize for something he did not do. He described his current situation as another challenge where he will continue to fight until he emerges victorious, emphasizing that tough people endure in tough times.

On Tuesday, August 8, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted in December 2022 for shooting Megan, 28, in both feet during a July 2020 altercation. He was found guilty of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and negligent discharge of a firearm. During his sentencing hearing, Lanez pleaded for leniency and professed that he still deeply cares for Megan.

Megan did not attend the court hearing, but she provided a written statement that was read aloud by the Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta. In her statement, Megan, also known as Megan Pete, expressed that the accused not only shot her but also belittled her sufferings. Megan claimed that he attempted to present himself as a victim while attempting to ruin her reputation and innermost being. She further accused him of spreading false information about the case through paid bloggers on social media platforms.

Megan expressed her reluctance to be present in person, as she could not bear being in the same room with Tory again. She further stated that she has not experienced a single day of peace since the shooting incident.

Earlier this year, Megan revealed to Elle that she fell into a state of depression following the shooting. She lost her motivation to create music and struggled to find inspiration for her rap content. Megan questioned whether people still cared about her and had moments of crying backstage or in her hotel. Despite this, she had to gather herself and put on her public persona as Megan Thee Stallion.

She has found herself in a more joyful state, though she admits to still battling anxiety. "Yet, this is all part of the healing journey," she stated. "There are moments of apprehension and doubt intertwined with moments of sheer happiness. I have embraced this period as a vital part of my personal growth, but I refuse to let it determine the course of my journey."
