Iggy Azalea clarified her stance after facing fan inquiries about her letter supporting Tory Lanez prior to his shooting trial.
In the wake of her statement being discussed in court on August 7, the 33-year-old Azalea stated that she has not communicated with Lanez, 31, for several months. Responding to a social media user wondering about the significance of the letter, she tweeted, "I have no reason to be [in touch], but I do hope he is doing well."
"I don't endorse anyone," she continued, expressing her concern about the unusual elements surrounding the situation. In her letter, she never mentioned anything related to the events of that night.
Azalea further explained that she believed her letter was solely intended for the judge's eyes and not for public consumption. She clarified that her stance is not in favor of discarding someone's life, but rather in support of implementing rehabilitative punishments that are reasonable. Emphasizing her support for prison reform, she concluded, "I wrote about my authentic experience and the kind of punishment I believe he should receive: that's it. It may not be particularly captivating, but I understand why it's being sensationalized."

Lanez is currently in the process of awaiting his sentencing for the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. In December 2022, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty by a jury of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and reckless discharge of a firearm.
During the sentencing hearing on Monday, Megan, who is 28 years old, was not present in court. However, she submitted a written statement requesting the judge to impose a severe sentence on Lanez, which was then read out loud by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta.
Ever since the defendant brutally shot me, not a single day of peace has graced my existence," expressed Megan in her written statement. She emphasized her reluctance to communicate face-to-face, admitting that the mere thought of being in close proximity with Tory was utterly unbearable.

In contrast, Azalea was among the 76 individuals who penned letters urging the judge to consider a more lenient sentence for Lanez. The Washington Post reported that Azalea requested a punishment that would be "transformative, rather than ruinous to his life."
Prosecutors have requested a 13-year prison sentence for Lanez, while his defense attorneys have contended that he should receive probation and be allowed to join a residential substance abuse program upon release from jail. Furthermore, Lanez's legal representatives have stated their intention to appeal the conviction. Both Lanez and his legal team will reconvene in the courtroom on Tuesday, August 8th.
