Alyssa Farah Griffin shared her personal experience with abuse during a discussion on domestic violence.
During the May 20 episode of The View, Farah Griffin, 34, and her cohosts talked about a video showing Diddy physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016, which was revealed by CNN on May 17.
Farah Griffin addressed the question that has been circulating since the video surfaced, "Why didn't she leave?" She shared her own experience of being a victim of domestic abuse in a past relationship. Fortunately, she was able to leave due to the power dynamics being in her favor.
In many cases, leaving an abusive relationship is not easy. Financial abuse and emotional manipulation are often used to trap victims in harmful situations.
When discussing Cassie's unique situation, Farah Griffin recognized the extreme circumstances. Diddy, who is 54 years old, has a whole industry built around making money from him.
Ultimately, Farah Griffin concluded that Cassie had no chance of escaping from him.
Farah Griffin criticized Diddy's apology video, which he shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 19. She mentioned that the apology was inadequate as he did not mention Cassie, offer a message to young men, or express any intention to donate his millions to a domestic violence shelter.
Diddy admitted in the video that he was feeling really bad and had reached a low point. He expressed regret for his behavior, stating that there were no excuses for it. Diddy took full ownership of his actions in the video and expressed disgust at himself.
The cohost of The View, Ana Navarro, expressed her strong disapproval and directly criticized Diddy's close associates.
Ana Navarro, 52, condemned the people in Sean Combs' inner circle for turning a blind eye and allowing this behavior to persist for many years. She emphasized that rumors about this behavior have circulated for decades.
Navarro acknowledged that Diddy has not faced any criminal charges for the 2016 assault due to the statute of limitations. However, Navarro believes that the public still has the power to "shun him."
According to Navarro, Diddy should be treated like the social leper and criminal that he is. Navarro expressed that Diddy's actions were witnessed, and as a result, Navarro does not want to see him in any restaurant or at any awards show. Navarro also mentioned that they will not support any brand associated with Diddy. Despite being dropped by many, Navarro feels that Diddy should face severe social consequences if legal repercussions do not hold him accountable.
