In V Rising's PvE servers, players' personal preferences play a significant role in their gameplay. When fighting monsters, world bosses, and vampire hunters, the effectiveness of their chosen weapons is crucial. It's understandable that players have their favorite weapons, and no ranking list should dictate otherwise.
But if the goal is to become one of the best players in V Rising, choosing the right weapons is key. In PvP areas where loot is at stake, using a top-tier weapon can make all the difference between victory and defeat.
With the release of the Gloomrot expansion, gamers were introduced to two new weapons: the Dual Pistols and the Greatsword. These additions have made it necessary to rebalance and adjust the existing list of weapons, as they have distinct strengths and weaknesses when used against each other. While the old weapons' statistics and attributes remain largely unchanged, the inclusion of the new weapons has significantly impacted the list. Adding a new weapon is not as simple as dropping it in, and the game developers have taken care to ensure that the new weapons have been integrated in a way that does not disrupt the balance of the game.
10 Crossbow
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Fire a projectile that deals 115% physical damage on hit. | 0 (1 second fire time) | 0.55 |
Rain Of Bolts | Fire a salvo of 5 bolts into the air that rains down on your enemies, dealing 40% physical damage each in an area and inflicting a 1.5-second fading snare. | 0.4 | 8 |
Snapshot | Fire a quick bolt that deals 75% damage, interrupts casts, and inflicts a 2-second fading snare. | 0.3 | 8 |
Using the Crossbow to hunt down the Winged Terror can be an exhilarating experience, but it comes with added fear for those wielding it. The slow firing rate and easy-to-dodge bolts make it difficult to inflict damage on most PvP and PvE adversaries. Despite attempts to improve other weapons on the list, the Crossbow remains in its original state, still near the bottom. Those who opt to use the Crossbow are likely seeking a greater challenge in the game, especially with the availability of Dual Pistols.
9 Reaper
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 50% / 50% / 55% physical damage. | 1.5 | 0.6 |
Tendon Swing | Swing your reaper dealing 125% physical damage to nearby enemies, knocking them back and inflicting a 2-second fading snare. | 0.2 | 8 |
Howling Reaper | Throw a howling reaper that spins in place dealing 20% physical damage every 0.25 seconds for 2.2 seconds. The initial projectile hit slows the enemies for 1.5 seconds and deals 50% physical damage. | 0.5 | 8 |
Although the primary attack packs a punch, it may lack speed. On the other hand, the Tendon Swing inflicts significant damage and provides some advantage in PvP, thanks to its 2-second fading snare that can keep opponents within close range for an extended period. However, aside from this move, the Reaper may not offer the optimal speed required for a satisfying PvP encounter.
The Howling Reaper attack is the bane of the Reaper's existence, as it requires the user to remain stationary. This limits its effectiveness against human opponents who can easily dodge out of the way. Additionally, even some PvE bosses may not be willing to stay put for long enough to be hit by this attack. While obtaining a legendary weapon version of this attack may seem impressive, it is ultimately a situational weapon.
8 Unarmed
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 65% / 65% / 65% physical damage. | 0.25 | 0 |
The presence of this "weapon" may appear to be a mockery of the Crossbow and Reaper, given the absence of any unarmed technique attacks. However, this is not the case. While the Crossbow and Reaper may not be suitable for all situations, unarmed attacks can be surprisingly effective.
By using bare-handed strikes against weaker opponents, players can bring them to the brink of defeat without necessarily killing them, allowing for the recovery of some blood. This is particularly useful in the absence of reliable allies.
7 Axes
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 45% / 45% / 55% physical damage. | 1.56 | 0.55 |
Frenzy | Dash forward and strike the first enemy dealing 100% physical damage. Enter a state of frenzy that increases your movement speed by 25% and increases attack speed by 30% for 0.8 seconds on a successful hit. | 0.35 | 8 |
X-Strike | Throw two axes in the shape of an X. Each hit deals 80% physical damage and slows the enemy for 1.5 seconds. Hitting the enemy where both axes intersect inflicts a 1-second incapacitate. | 0.5 | 8 |
The Axes have undergone some changes with a minor buff and nerf to balance them out. Frenzy's attack speed increase now lasts for 0.8 seconds, which is longer than the previous 0.3 seconds. However, the stun effect on X-Strike has been reduced by half. This change is actually beneficial for the build as the previous version of Axes felt more like a spellcasting loadout due to the limited attack time.
Positioning yourself for a successful X-Strike can be a challenge, especially in PvP where opponents are familiar with the move and know how to avoid it. However, in PvE situations, enemies may not be as savvy and can quickly fall victim to this powerful attack. Pair this with a swift Frenzy follow-up and you have a deadly DPS rotation at your disposal.
6 Mace
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 55% / 55% / 60% physical damage. | 1.74 | 0.61 |
Crushing Blow | Vault towards the cursor and slam your mace into the ground dealing 150% physical damage and inflicting a 2-second fading snare. | 0.7 | 8 |
Smack | Smack enemies in front of you dealing 50% physical damage, knocking them back and incapacitating them for 1.2 seconds. | 0.35 | 8 |
The Mace boasts high damage output at the expense of speed. While executing the Crushing Blow move can be challenging, its accompanying movement adds some degree of mobility. Meanwhile, the Smack move's stun effect is easier to trigger, granting the Mace an attractive PvP advantage. Additionally, the Mace's damage output has been increased overall, solidifying its position as a formidable combat choice. However, its slow swing speed leaves wielders vulnerable to incoming attacks, so it's advisable to have healing options on hand.
5 Spear
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 40% / 40% / 50% physical damage. | 1.02 | 0.7 |
A Thousand Spears | Perform a multi-stab attack, dealing 20% physical damage 8 times. Recast during the effect to perform a thrust attack dealing 50% physical damage and knocking enemies back. Enemies are staggered during the attack for the 1.1-second time. | 0.35 | 8 |
Harpoon | Throw a spear that deals 90% physical damage and pulls the enemy towards you. | 0.7 | 8 |
The Spear has undergone a rework that may spark mixed reactions among players. Previously, the weapon could strike enemies instantly without any wind-up time. However, this has been changed and replaced with a 1.1-second stun added to A Thousand Spears. This will prevent any hit player from moving during the channel.
4 Greatsword
Individualistic vampires may not find much use for this, but those who engage in group battles will find it helpful for coordinating with their allies. The Spear can immobilize opponents, making it easier for teammates to cast spells or execute moves that would otherwise be challenging to land, whether in PvE or PvP.
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 70% / 70% / 80% physical damage. | 2 | 1 |
Great Cleaver | Charge forward and swing your greatsword upward dealing 150% damage in an area and launching enemies into the air for 0.75 seconds. | 0.4 | 8 |
Death From Above | Leap into the air and descend upon your enemy dealing 100% physical damage in an area. | 0 | 8 |
The Greatsword shines as a top-tier loadout in PvE thanks to its ability to render the user "immaterial" with Death from Above. This makes the character untargetable, making it the perfect move to use before a powerful attack from a boss. It can even completely negate the damage altogether. However, in PvP, the Greatsword may face some challenges as its active skills can be easily dodged by more mobile loadouts. Nevertheless, its damage output is still impressive and can be a valuable choice for players who prefer hit-and-run tactics.
3 Dual Pistols
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of ranged attacks dealing 65% / 50% / 50% physical damage. | 2.15 (0.5 fire time) | 0.5 |
Fan the Hammer | Fire 10 bullets in a cone over 1.5 seconds, each bullet deals 25% physical damage and knocks the target back. | 0.4 | 8 |
Explosive Bullet | Perform a dodge roll followed by firing an explosive bullet dealing 125% physical damage. The bullet explodes after 3 seconds dealing 125% physical damage in an area and knocking enemies back. | 0.3 | 8 |
The Dual Pistols are an impressive weapon in the game, boasting the highest combo damage per second. While their range may not be as long as the Crossbow, they make up for it with their quick half-second firing time. When facing groups of enemies, the Fan the Hammer technique can either eliminate waves of foes or force them to retreat.
The Dual Pistols are a versatile weapon in the game, especially with the addition of the Explosive Bullet. This ammunition inflicts significant damage, but the real advantage lies in its ability to roll. This feature provides players with an extra mobility option, making it easier to navigate through the game. Additionally, the Dual Pistols boast one of the best armor sets in PvE, and are exceptional in PvP as long as the user can accurately lead the initial shot.
2 Sword
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 35% / 35% / 40% physical damage. | 1.15 | 0.55 |
Whirlwind | Spin around and slice nearby enemies dealing 35% physical damage every 0.25 seconds for 1.1 seconds. Movement speed is increased during the spin. | 0 | 8 |
Shockwave | Send forth a shockwave dealing 70% physical damage and launching the enemy hit into the air for 1.6 seconds. Recast the ability to teleport to the target, striking it three times, each strike deals 20% physical damage. | 0.7 | 8 |
The devastating Shockwave technique allows players to effortlessly close in on ranged attackers and inflict a significant amount of damage. However, the Sword's true strength lies in its Whirlwind ability, which can effortlessly take down groups of enemies or single opponents who attempt to evade the attack.
Furthermore, the Sword has been recently enhanced, providing players with a boost in movement speed during Whirlwind, making it almost impossible for opponents to escape the area of effect. By keeping this weapon in top condition, players will find it to be a valuable asset in both PvE and PvP encounters.
1 Slashers
Ability Name | Effect | Cast Time (seconds) | Cooldown (seconds) |
Primary Attack | Perform a combo of melee attacks dealing 27.5% / 27.5% / 35% physical damage. | 1.02 | 0.63 |
Elusive Strike | Dash back and forth slashing at your enemies dealing 70% physical damage and inflicting a 2-second slow on each hit. | 0.2 | 8 |
Camouflage | Enter a state of camouflage, increasing movement speed by 25% for 3 seconds. Your next primary attack deals 80% physical damage and incapacitates the enemy for 2 seconds. Using any skill breaks camouflage. | 0 | 10 |
Those who underestimate the power of the Slashers in gaming probably haven't faced a skilled PvP opponent who knows how to use them effectively. The 2-second slow, which is nearly impossible to avoid, is just the beginning of the trouble. The Camouflage ability makes the character almost invisible, enhances their speed, and inflicts additional damage on the next hit. Furthermore, the 2-second stun that essentially offers a free hit with any available attack or spell is a significant advantage. This combination of abilities is so powerful that it can cause opponents to delete their characters out of frustration.
In case of a sticky situation, Slashers prove to be the ultimate getaway tool, even when facing a heavily equipped foe. While there might be other PvE weaponry capable of inflicting more immediate harm, Slashers reign supreme with their rapid and relentless attacks during a brawl. Don't miss out on V Rising, now accessible on PC.
