The Ultimate Stone Talus Quest Walkthrough in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers a variety of side-content for players to enjoy when they want a break from the main quests. Within the Kingdom of Hyrule, there are numerous small quests and exciting adventures waiting for the curious explorer. Even within the hub areas of Tears of the Kingdom, such as Lookout Landing, there are meaningful quests to embark on. One example is the quest called "Wanted: Stone Talus" given by the Monster-Control Crew members of the Emergency Shelter.

These battle-hardened survivors of the Upheaval provide Link with multiple quests that revolve around reducing the number of monsters in the area. In this guide, the player will be led through every step needed to successfully complete this task.

How to Begin Wanted: Stone Talus in TotK

To initiate the "Wanted: Stone Talus" side-quest, Link needs to venture down into the Emergency Shelter located at the heart of Lookout Landing. In this facility, Link will have access to a wide array of amenities and significant individuals, including the leaders of the Monster-Control Crew. It is crucial for Link to approach Gralens, who can be identified by the small red and white exclamation mark displayed in his speech bubble, indicating the availability of a new quest.

Gralens does not start the game in the Emergency Shelter. The conditions for his arrival vary, but it seems that Link must finish at least one of the "Bring Peace to..." missions. The most relevant mission is "Bring Peace to Hyrule Field," which is closest to Lookout Landing.

The Stone Talus can be found in the northeastern corner of Hyrule, not too far from the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. For quick travel, Link can go to the Jochi-iu Shrine (4346, 2875, 0165) which is located directly east of the quest marker. If the player hasn't visited the shrine yet, the closest tower is the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower (3493, 2019, 0188).

Link will find the Stone Talus at the quest marker, partially submerged in a small pond. Make sure to use any potions or meals before initiating the fight.

How to Defeat the Stone Talus

The basic Stone Talus in Tears of the Kingdom has become significantly easier to defeat due to the introduction of the new Ascend ability. This formidable enemy possesses an Ore Deposit on its back, which serves as its vulnerable spot. By utilizing the Ascend ability, Link can elevate himself through the underside of the creature, granting him unrestricted access to launch attacks at the weak point.

The Ore Deposit protrudes horizontally, presenting a challenging target from above. However, Link can leverage Ascend to reach its level, leap off, and employ the bow's slow-motion aiming prowess to inflict significant harm.

By utilizing a mighty bow, the procedure can be executed merely once or twice by Link. In the event that Link possesses a less potent bow, this tactic remains effective; however, it might be advisable to enhance his defense to guarantee that any incurred harm does not prove deadly.

The Stone Talus primarily relies on its arm launch attack, in which it forcefully propels a section of its arm towards Link. Fortunately, by maintaining constant movement, Link can easily evade this attack. Moreover, if Link remains perched on the Talus for an extended period, the creature will forcefully expel him from its back, inflicting minor damage. Keep a close eye on the Talus, as it will display subtle indicators of this impending action by shaking before executing it.

Remember to fuse the Stone Talus' heart to a weapon and collect any valuable ore before returning to Lookout Landing.

Return to Gralens

Link needs to go back to Lookout Landing and talk to Gralens in order to finish the quest.
