As expected, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom follows in its predecessor's footsteps by featuring a vast open world that strongly encourages player exploration. However, in this latest installment of the franchise, Nintendo has gone even further by introducing additional regions to be discovered, including islands floating in the sky and a dark, cavernous area beneath the surface known as the Depths. It goes without saying that players will spend a significant amount of time traversing these expansive environments, either by utilizing available horses or employing some creative thinking to construct vehicles from various Zonai components.

Yet, navigation is just one aspect of the adventure, as these areas are brimming with hidden secrets and various activities. Just like in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom boasts an impressive collection of over 150 shrines waiting to be found, scattered both on the land's surface and within the Sky Islands. Along the way, players will also encounter numerous non-playable characters (NPCs), both on the road and within settlements, where they can embark on side quests and engaging side adventures. Tears of the Kingdom truly offers an abundance of activities, with many of the optional missions providing enough flexibility for players to employ new abilities, such as Ultrahand, and get creative in finding unconventional solutions.

The introductory village of Lookout Landing also offers numerous side quests that players can embark on while progressing through the mainline quest. As Tears of the Kingdom players advance in the campaign missions, new opportunities arise within Lookout Landing, motivating them to consistently revisit the town and discover what's new. This concept is exemplified in a particular quest known as Who Goes There, which reintroduces a popular mechanic from Breath of the Wild.

How to Start Who Goes There in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Although Who Goes There can be completed relatively quickly, it does not become accessible right at the beginning of the game. In order to unlock it at the Emergency Shelter of Lookout Landing, players must first complete at least one mission from the Regional Phenomena main quest line. Once this requirement is fulfilled, players should then make sure to speak with Jerrin at the Emergency Shelter.

The Sheikah sweeper is visibly distressed, showing clear signs of frustration as she vigorously sweeps, resulting in the inadvertent breaking of a section of the wall. To make matters worse, the newly formed hole emanates an eerie voice, leaving an unsettling atmosphere. Convinced that she has somehow provoked a malevolent entity, thereby endangering her life, Link valiantly offers to investigate the origin of the perplexing sound, in hopes of discovering a resolution.

How to Complete Who Goes There in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

To investigate the mysterious voice coming from the newly formed hole in the wall, players must venture into the Royal Hidden Passage. This underground tunnel system not only leads directly to Hyrule Castle, but also contains valuable items, including the highly sought-after Soldier's armor set, known for its exceptional defensive capabilities. In order to uncover the source of the whispered voices, known as the Forbidden Horned Statue, players should stay to the right when they encounter a fork in the road. By using a hammer-like weapon to smash through the rocks on the right side, they will reveal the enigmatic statue.

The Demon Statue, previously seen in Hateno Village in Breath of the Wild, has now moved to the Emergency Shelter. Engaging in dialogue with the statue will unveil its functionality, which will be recognizable to experienced players. Essentially, players can trade Stamina and Heart gauges for a modest fee. This interaction initiates a fresh Side Adventure named "A Deal with the Statue." Additionally, players can return to Jerrin and converse with her to successfully conclude the "Who Goes There?" quest. As a reward for their courageous pursuit of the mysterious voices, Jerrin will even offer players a Red Rupee.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
