Where to Utilize Topaz

In Tears of the Kingdom, players should develop the practice of gathering all items they come across. These materials serve various purposes like cooking meals or elixirs, armor fusion, and armor upgrades. While Gems like Topaz are specifically employed for enhancing and fusing armor, incorporating them into a meal will produce unsatisfactory outcomes.

Topaz is a more scarce gem compared to Opal and Amber, although it is not frequently found in regular ore deposits. Like all other gems, Topaz possess elemental powers that can be unlocked through fusion. Therefore, players of the Tears of the Kingdom game might be pondering whether to hold onto their Topaz in their inventory or trade it with a merchant.

Topaz can be obtained by mining Rare Ore Deposits or defeating Stone Talus (Rare). Additionally, players can find Topaz in certain treasure chests located in the Gerudo Region, such as the Gerudo Shelter. However, these chests are locked behind challenging puzzles. If players have a weapon infused with Topaz, they can visit Pelison in Tarrey Town to separate the gemstone from the weapon. This service, which costs 20 Rupees, allows players to obtain the valuable Topaz without sacrificing their weapon.

Players have the opportunity to discover Rare Ore Deposits while exploring caves. These deposits, being scarce, tend to be found in the deepest sections of the caves rather than near the entrance. Remarkably, Rare Ore Deposits contain embedded golden ore.

To locate a Rare Ore Deposit in a cave can be quite perplexing, making it essential for players to explore regions abundant in caves. The Eldin Region, situated just north of Goron City in close proximity to YunoboCo HQ, is highly recommended. This area boasts an abundance of caves, with many of them leading to the magnificent Shrines of Light.

If TotK players are feeling self-assured, they have the opportunity to locate Stone Talus (Rare) in Hyrule. However, it is advisable to avoid The Depths as it consists mainly of monsters that cause gloom-damage to Link. This caution is particularly relevant for beginners.

Fortunately, there is a Rare Stone Talus located in Tabantha Canyon near Tabantha Bridge Stable (-2919, 0546, 0169). To find it, jump down into Tabantha Canyon from the Tabantha Great Bridge and head south towards coordinates -3486, 0170, -0105. In the middle of the clearing, you will come across a large boulder. Approach the boulder and the Stone Talus will emerge from the ground.

The only weakness of Stone Taluses is the Ore Deposit on their body, usually located on their head. However, since Rare Stone Taluses are a more powerful variation, their primary Ore Deposit/weakness is situated on their back.

To effectively combat the Stone Talus, utilize Bomb Flowers or arrows combined with Bomb Flowers:

Outmaneuver the Talus by circling around it and evading its attacks. Then, launch a bomb arrow towards its core. This action will temporarily incapacitate the Stone Talus, granting players an opportunity to scale its body.

Link has the option to position himself on the Ore Deposit and launch attacks from there. However, it is important to note that the Talus will eventually shake Link off, causing him damage.

If encountering difficulties, Link can employ the Ascend ability on the Stone Talus and land on the Ore Deposit by accessing the Talus' head.

is vanquished, it has the ability to yield any gem type, except for Luminous Stones. Occasionally, instead of obtaining Topaz, the Stone Talus (Rare) may relinquish Rubies or Diamonds. Apart from gems and flint, an uncommon item known as the Rare Stone Talus Heart is left behind by the Talus. Due to its bulky nature, this object cannot fit in the inventory and thus, Link must merge it with either a melee weapon or a shield. The fusion of a Rare Stone Talus Heart with a melee weapon will augment its attack power and facilitate the swift destruction of ore deposits.

At any vendor, Topaz can be purchased for 80 Rupees. Upon encountering the Gerudo merchant, Ramella, in Goron City, players have the opportunity to sell their 10 Topaz for 1000 Rupees. It is important to note that Ramella is also interested in purchasing 10 Rubies, Sapphires, and Diamonds. However, it is important to be patient as she will randomly alternate her interest among these four gems, requiring some wait until she reverts back to Topaz.

Another way to utilize Topaz is by infusing it onto a melee weapon or an arrow. When fused with weapons such as the Magic Scepter, the weapon transforms into a wand. Weapons fused with Topaz (and all gem-infused weapons) unleash electric projectiles with every swing. This differs from a weapon infused with an Electric Lizalfos Horn, which only inflicts electrical damage when directly hitting the enemy.

Furthermore, players have the option to enhance their armor using Topaz. Armor upgrades become available when players embark on the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" side quest at Woodland Stable. This quest is a part of the "Potential Princess Sightings!" side adventure, which can be unlocked by visiting the Lucky Clover Gazette outside Rito Village. A total of four side adventures exist for the Great Fairies, and completing them is necessary to fully maximize the level of armor.
