Where to Use Dragon Horns?

In Tears of the Kingdom, players can obtain Dragon Horn Shards, one of the four materials, from dragons. While the dragons are not hostile, approaching them without caution can prove to be dangerous. As a result, farming parts from dragons can be a challenging task.

Unlike Dragon Scales, players must be precise when aiming and shooting arrows to obtain Dragon Horns. Different parts of the dragon's body will yield varying drops, so knowing where to target is crucial. These Dragon Horns are essential in Tears of the Kingdom for upgrading armor.

To get a Dragon Horn, fire an arrow at the dragon's horn(s). It's pretty straightforward, and the type of horn that drops will depend on the dragon:

Light Dragon: Shard of Light Dragon's Horn

Dinraal: Shard of Dinraal's Horn

Naydra: Shard of Naydra's Horn

Farosh: Farosh's Horn Fragment

Both the Light Dragon and Dinraal possess a pair of horns on their heads. By targeting either horn and shooting it down, players can obtain a valuable shard. To ensure successful retrieval, it's recommended to position oneself near the horn so that it can be easily collected upon falling.

Players cannot utilize a wooden bow to farm from Dinraal, nor can they use a metal bow when farming from Farosh. This restriction arises from the dragons' elemental attributes, with Dinraal being associated with fire and Farosh with electricity.

Naydra sports a crown of horns, whereas Farosh possesses a solitary horn. Consequently, both of these dragon's horns provide a more accessible target for shooting and collecting horn shards compared to Dinraal and the Light Dragon.

How to Get Shard of Light Dragon's Horn

The Light Dragon is the most easily obtainable compared to the other dragons. Unlike the other dragons, she can be found without having to venture into any Chasms in The Depths. However, tracking her down may prove challenging as she covers the largest flight path.

The Light Dragon's route takes her in a clockwise direction over Hyrule, passing close to the Skyview Towers and the Geoglyphs. To reach her, the simplest method is to launch Link from a nearby Skyview Tower and then glide towards her using the paraglider. Players equipped with the Vow of Tulin will have a slight advantage in reaching her faster compared to those without.

To track the Light Dragon, players can consult the Great Deku Tree in the Korok Forest. Accessible only from The Depths, reached by navigating through the Chasm north of Woodland Stable, the forest holds the key to locating the Light Dragon. Players should alleviate the oppressive atmosphere within the forest before speaking to the Great Deku Tree, thus initiating the Master Sword side quest.

For players yet to obtain the sword, a yellow objective marker will guide them to the Light Dragon's current whereabouts. However, those who already possess the Master Sword will not have the ability to track the Light Dragon. Therefore, it is advisable to defer obtaining the sword until players have gathered everything they require from the dragon.

How to Get Shard of Dinraal's Horn

Dinraal can be found in the northeastern region of The Surface. She will traverse the Drenan Highlands Chasm and soar through The Depths. To return to The Surface, she will exit through the East Akkala Plains Chasm.

For those seeking a Travel Point near the East Akkala Plains Chasm, the Sinatanika Shrine is the closest option. As for the Drenan Highlands Chasm, the nearby Typhlo Ruins Skyview Tower serves as the closest point of interest.

East Akkala Plains (emerges from The Depths): Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower (3493, 2019, 0188)

Sinatanika Shrine (3842, 2300, 0048)

Drenan Highlands (enters The Depths):Typhlo Ruins Skyview Tower (0338, 3123, 0174)

Kikakin Shrine (-0395, 2736, 0287)

Dinraal releases intense heat and flames from her entire body. When close to her or standing on her back without wearing flame-resistant gear like the Flamebreaker Set, Link will catch fire. Additionally, fireballs hover around her while she is flying, so it is advisable to avoid them during paragliding.

By upgrading the Flamebreaker Set to level 2, Link unlocks the Fireproof Set Bonus. With this ability, as the name suggests, Link will be protected from catching fire as long as he is donning the complete Flamebreaker Set.

How to Get Shard of Naydra's Horn

The Ultimate Guide to Obtaining Dragon Horns in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Naydra, being an ice dragon, has a preference for colder regions. She starts her flight from the Naydra Snowfield Chasm and enters The Depths through the East Hill Chasm. Unlike the other dragons, Naydra's flight path is relatively shorter as she stays mainly around Mount Lanayru.

If you wish to be closer to the Naydra Snowfield Chasm, the nearest Travel Points are either the Lanayru Skyview Tower or the Zakusu Shrine. For those who want to witness her descent into the Depths, warping to Kakariko Village and climbing the hill near the Ring Ruins is the recommended route.

Naydra Snowfield (leaves The Depths):Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower (3845, -1306, 0539)

Zakusu Shrine (3527, -1482, 0168)

In East Hill, as you enter The Depths, you will come across Kakariko Village at coordinates 1822, -1002, 0112.

To approach Naydra, who is extremely cold, players will require cold-resistant armor or Chilly Elixirs. Without the appropriate gear, there is a risk of unintentionally freezing Link if he lands on her back or is hit by one of the iceballs surrounding her. Should Link become frozen, he will plummet to the ground, potentially leading to instant death.

Combat Naydra's frigid temperature by wearing the Snowquill Set from Rito Village. At level 2, this armor will give Link the Unfreezable Set Bonus.

How to Get Shard of Farosh's Horn

The Ultimate Guide to Obtaining Dragon Horns in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In The Surface, Farosh creates chaos with her flight, so it is crucial to discard all metal weaponry, shields, and bows before engaging with her. She has a preference for the Gerudo Canyon and Faron Region, entering The Depths at the Hills of Baumer Chasm, and reemerging at the East Gerudo Chasm.

For those seeking to catch her as she emerges from The Depths, a recommended starting point is the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower. From there, gliding to the East Gerudo Chasm would be the ideal route. However, if one wants to pursue her as she dives into The Depths, utilizing the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower is the better option.

East Gerudo (emerges from The Depths): Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower (-2423, -2202, 0302)

Siwakama Shrine (-2445, -3345, 0041)

Hills of Baumer (enters The Depths):Popla Foothills Skyview Tower (0602, -2118, 0098)

Located at Susub Shrine (0348, -2051, -0026), there are ways for Link to avoid a harmful shock. He can either equip Shock Resistant armor or consume an Electro Elixir. The Rubber Set is an example of Shock Resistant armor, but players who upgrade the Desert Voe Set to level 2 will unlock its Shock Resistant Set Bonus. With this bonus, Link can withstand electric attacks without losing his weapons, shield, or bow.

If players intend to sit anywhere on Farosh's body, then they'll need electric resistance. Otherwise, just glide close enough and shoot an arrow at the horn.

Where to Use Dragon Horns?

Dragon Horns are the optimal choice for enhancing meals with dragon parts. These exceptional ingredients possess the incredible ability to prolong the effects of a dish for an additional 30 minutes. For instance, by combining four Razorshrooms with one Dragon Horn, Link can significantly boost his Attack Power to level 3, ensuring a formidable edge in battle for a half-hour. With their invaluable properties, Dragon Horns are a must-acquire resource for those adventurers seeking to engage in epic encounters with formidable foes.
