Sidon of the Zora is one of the sub-quests in the Regional Phenomena main story mission in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players have the freedom to complete these sub-quests in any order, but many choose to start with Sidon of the Zora due to its relative ease.

This sub-quest requires significant time and effort, usually taking several hours for players to finish. It involves extensive exploration, two boss fights, and even has its own dungeon. By following a walkthrough, players can expedite the process while ensuring they don't miss any chests or valuable rewards.

Zora's Domain Location

Updated on August 28th, 2023: Upon reaching Zora's Domain in TOTK, players will find themselves immediately caught up in a mission to assist Prince Sidon. Navigating through Sidon's quest line in Tears of the Kingdom can be rather perplexing, particularly when players reach the Clues to the Sky quest. To simplify the process for players, a video has been added detailing the precise location and necessary actions to progress through the quest line.

To begin the Sidon of the Zora quest, players must first make their way to Zora's Domain, located at coordinates 3300, 0423, 0112. If players have already visited the Mogawak Shrine, they can conveniently fast-travel there, as the shrine is situated within Zora's Domain. Otherwise, players should head to the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower and proceed eastward.

How to Complete The Sludge-Covered Statue

Upon arriving at Zora's Domain, players should ascend the stairs and approach the congregation of Zora individuals near the immense statue. In order to advance further, it is necessary to cleanse the sludge that has accumulated on the statue. This task can be accomplished by affixing a Splash Fruit to an arrow and then precisely shooting it at the statue. Nearby, there is an abundance of Splash Fruits for the taking, so players who lack any should explore the mountainous vicinity surrounding the domain and engage in a bit of gathering. It is crucial to note that Chuchu Jelly arrows are a viable alternative, although the elemental variety will not suffice.

After the statue has undergone cleaning, Yona will inform that Sidon can be located at Mipha Court. She will also mention the Zora Armor; however, the immediate priority for players should be to concentrate on finding Sidon. Those who have already visited Mipha Court can instantly travel to the Ihen-a Shrine to locate him promptly. It is likely that most players have not yet been there, which implies a bit of a journey is required. Instead of commencing from Zora's Domain, they should utilize fast travel to return to the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower and proceed from that point.

The Broken Slate

Sidon will inform you that he is required at Mipha Court but suggests consulting a historian named Jiahto, who can be located at Toto Lake, situated to the north of Zora's Domain. The most efficient way to reach the destination is by ascending the nearby steps and then gliding from the summit of the hill. Before taking the leap, it is advisable for players to dive into the water beneath the statue and acquire an Ancient Arowana, as this uncommon fish will prove valuable later on.

Upon arriving at Toto Lake, players should seek out Dunma, a Zora who will provide guidance on finding Jiahto. Jiahto can be found in a nearby cave. After engaging in conversation with Jiahto, players should exit the cave and direct their attention towards the left side. Here, they will come across a mural piece that has been obscured by a layer of sludge. To restore its pristine condition, players should employ a Splash Fruit arrow to remove the sludge. Once the mural piece is visible, they can utilize Link's Ultrahand ability to retrieve it. The next step involves returning the mural piece to its designated position on the cave wall. Jiahto will then proceed to examine the mural and subsequently recommend seeking assistance from King Dorephan in deciphering the accompanying riddle.

How To Find King Dorephan

At this juncture, players should proceed to Zora's Domain and ascend to the throne room. Within this space, several children engage in play, yet proximity prompts them to cease their activities and fall silent. To circumvent this obstacle, players ought to stealthily traverse the back of the throne room to avoid detection and then opt for the "listen" command when within range. As a result, the children will divulge the news of King Dorephan's injury and his current concealment in a covert location concealed behind a nearby waterfall.

Restoring the Zora Armor

Before departing Zora's Domain to search for King Dorephan, players should descend one level to the infirmary and seek out Yuno, who can be found in one of the pools. Yuno will explain her desire to mend the Zora Armor, but she requires an Ancient Arowana to accomplish this task. After a brief conversation, the King will bestow upon them five of his scales, which are the coveted "Mark of the King" mentioned in the riddle found on the slate.

After gathering the scales, players should make their way outside and ascend to Mipha Courth. Once there, their focus should shift towards the heavens as they search for the floating island resembling a colossal fish, made easily discernible by the presence of a magnificent waterfall cascading from it. They should then utilize Link's Paraglider to gracefully glide above the descending deluge and, equipped with the Zora Armor, elegantly ascend the waterfall to finally reach the enchanting Floating Scales Island.

Once on Floating Scales Island, players should proceed to the central area and orient themselves towards the southwest direction. By doing so, they should observe the alignment of the floating rocks in front of them forming the shape of a water droplet. In case this arrangement is not apparent, players are advised to venture towards the coordinates 4074, 0529, 0604 and revisit the observation. Once the water droplet configuration is located, players need to affix a King's Scale onto an arrow by pressing up on the D-Pad while aiming with the bow, and then carefully release the arrow through the exact center of the droplet. Following the ensuing cut-scene, players should promptly return to Mipha Court and engage in a conversation with Sidon, thereby triggering a formidable boss encounter.

How to Beat Sludge Like

Although the Sludge Like boss fight may appear daunting at first, it is actually quite straightforward. To defeat the Sludge Like, players must initially douse it with a powerful jet of water. This can be accomplished by seeking assistance from Sidon to activate the protective water shield, directing it towards the Sludge Like, and subsequently launching a melee attack. Once the sludge has been cleared away, players must then patiently wait for the boss to reveal a luminescent purple sphere within its mouth. They must swiftly strike the sphere with any standard attack and aim to inflict as much damage as possible before the Sludge Like recovers.

The key to winning this battle is speed. Skillful players can unleash a swift burst of water on the Sludge Like, preventing it from launching an attack. However, if the Sludge Like manages to attack, players have a few options: they can dodge its projectiles by swiftly hopping left or right while focused on the enemy, defend themselves by using their shield to block, or seek refuge behind Sidon. Once the boss is defeated, a chest containing a Royal Claymore will materialize, and Sidon will agree to accompany Link to the enigmatic pillar of light.

The Ancient Zora Waterworks

Whenever players are ready to continue with the Sidon of the Zora main quest, they should proceed to the pillar of light located in the East Reservoir Lake area. There, they will find Sidon awaiting them. Upon reaching him, Sidon will create a whirlpool, allowing Link to submerge beneath the water and reach the Ancient Zora Waterworks. In the first area of this underwater location, players only need to unblock the pipe located on their right. This can be achieved by using either a bomb or a weapon fused with a boulder.

This action will result in an increase in water levels and provide access to a newly discovered area featuring a vibrant green light at its center. Players should proceed towards the water and notice a blocked pipe on the left, which they should unblock in order to raise the water levels. Additionally, there is another pipe on the right side of the entrance with a ladder leading up to it, which players should also unblock. Afterward, if players examine the water in front of the unblocked pipe, they will come across a chest floating on the surface. By utilizing Link's Ultrahand ability, players can retrieve a Zora Shield from the chest.

Next, players should utilize the platforms located to their right in order to navigate towards the opposite side of the chamber. Once they have reached the far wall, a combination of jumping and gliding is necessary to traverse across a substantial pipe. Afterwards, they should keep an eye out for two smaller pipes emerging from the adjacent wall. They must proceed into one of these pipes and, upon eliminating all adversaries, search for an area where water is dripping from the ceiling. By utilizing the Ascend ability at this specific spot, they will encounter another obstruction that can be eradicated by fusing a nearby boulder with one of their unfused weapons.

Wellspring Island

To return to the main chamber, players must once again use Ascend. Upon entering, they will notice that the water level has risen, allowing them to investigate the captivating green light. Before doing so, it may be worthwhile for them to swim into the large pipe they previously skipped over. Inside, they will discover a chest filled with Opal. Afterward, they can proceed to examine the green light. As a result, a colossal waterfall will cascade down from the sky. By swimming up this magnificent waterfall, players will arrive at Wellspring Island.

The following section focuses on the concept of ascending, which can be achieved using the floating water orbs. Eventually, players will encounter a series of Soldier Constructs before reaching an area filled with numerous waterfalls. In order to proceed, players must glide into the nearest waterfall and then press the A button to swim upwards. After successfully ascending the highest waterfall, players will arrive at a new island where they'll discover the Igoshon Shrine and a collection of gliders.

In order to proceed to the next area, players can utilize Link's Ultrahand ability to strategically position one of the gliders onto the adjacent incline, followed by a precise melee attack on the switch. This action will initiate a countdown, granting players a brief window to swiftly jump onto the glider before it propels them towards a nearby island. Once there, players must eliminate another Soldier Construct before ascending a series of additional waterfalls. It is crucial for them to make a pit stop and unlock the chest containing the Old Map en route.

Players will eventually reach an area where there are additional Soldier Constructs, but they have the option to bypass them. Their objective in this section is to locate a floating water orb located at the highest point of the island. They should use the Recall ability on the orb and ride it towards the distant island. On reaching the island, they will discover a chest positioned on a platform above a pool of water, containing a Captain II Repear. There are various methods to access it, but the simplest involves constructing an impromptu elevator by raising a platform to a considerable height using Ultrahand, gradually lowering it, then ascending on top of it before reversing its momentum using Recall.

Upon unlocking the chest, players must construct a ramp to redirect the nearby water orb. By doing so, the orb propels upwards, allowing players to ride it and glide towards a distant island. There, they will discover valuable parts and a sludge-covered chest containing additional Opal. To proceed further, players should attach several fans to their glider and ascend the ramp, ultimately reuniting with Sidon. They have the option to either defeat the Soldier Construct or bypass it and swim up the colossal waterfall at the opposite end of the island.

The Water Temple

To access the Water Temple, players must swim against the current of the waterfall. This temple is one of the many dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
