Locating the Flute Player in Tears of the Kingdom: A Comprehensive Guide to the Flute Player's Plan QuestEmbarking on a quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom involves finding the missing members of the Stable Trotters, including the horn player, drum player, and flute player. The Flute Player's Plan Quest is one such mission, which requires locating the flute player to awaken the Great Fairies scattered across Hyrule. The first fairy can be found near Woodland Stable, making the search for the flute player even more crucial.
Pyper, the missing flute player in Tears of the Kingdom, has a simple side quest that Link must complete before he can rejoin the musical troupe. All players need to do is collect a handful of bugs, which can be easily found nearby.
Located outside the Highland Stable in Faron at coordinates (0529, -3394, 0057), the flute player for the Stable Trotters was recently involved in an accident that resulted in a fire. The cause of the fire was revealed to be Pyper, who is now in hiding after taking a shortcut to show Haite, a girl at the stable, a glowing tree. Unfortunately, his actions resulted in the uncontrollable blaze.
Climb up the tree near Highland Stable and look for a young boy playing a flute. As Link approaches, the sound of the flute becomes louder and clearer. Speak to Pyper to begin the quest and discover his determination to fulfill his promise.
The Flute Player's Plan Quest Walkthrough
To fulfill his promise to Haite, Pyper enlists Link's help in tracking down 10 Sunset Fireflies. These glowing insects are abundant throughout Hyrule, making it easy for players to collect them on their adventures. Alternatively, players can venture to the forest in the north to specifically gather the fireflies.
Once players start the quest, Pyper can be found by climbing down the tree, making it convenient for Link to locate him upon his return. To complete the quest, players need to collect all 10 Sunset Fireflies and bring Haite to the tree during the night. However, if it's later than 3 a.m. or raining, Haite will refuse to leave Highland Stable.
Sunset Firefly Locations Close to Outskirt Stable
For those looking to collect Sunset Fireflies in large quantities, the forest just north of Highland Stable is the ideal location. Whether taking the road north or paragliding down from the hill to the north, visitors will find some of the most densely populated areas of Sunset Fireflies in all of Hyrule.
The Sunset Fireflies are a sight to behold, appearing as tiny green specks in the distance. Unlike decorative fireflies, they can be collected by Link without disappearing. However, these fireflies are easily startled and it's important to equip Stealth armor or consume Stealth-enhancing food or elixirs before attempting to catch them. Don't forget to keep a lookout for these mesmerizing insects.
To procure a large quantity of Sunset Fireflies in a hassle-free manner, consider buying them from two different vendors. You can approach Beedle at the Highland Stable and purchase up to three of these fireflies from him. Alternatively, you can locate a wandering merchant named Eryck in the northern woods, who sells up to five Sunset Fireflies. The remaining two can be easily found in the nearby woods and shouldn't take much time to collect. Once you have all 10 Sunset Fireflies, head back to Pyper to complete the quest.
Completing The Flute Player's Plan
After delivering the Sunset Fireflies to Pyper, the next step is to head towards the Highland Stable and speak with Haite. If it's not too late at night or raining, Haite will follow Link outside to the tree where Pyper has been located. A beautiful cutscene will be triggered once Haite is nearby and Pyper will make the decision to reunite with the Stable Trotters. As a token of appreciation, Pyper will reward Link with a Big Hearty Truffle which is capable of fully healing hearts and providing additional yellow hearts when cooked. Moreover, Pyper will return to the band and use his flute to awaken the Great Fairy Kaysa near the Outskirt Stable.
