Swift Violet Farming Tips

Where to Use Swift Violets

Herbs and flowers can be incorporated or combined with weapons and shields, enhancing their abilities. Certain herbs and flowers also have the capability to impart special effects to cooked meals. Understanding the effects of each herb and flower can greatly assist Tears of the Kingdom players seeking increased attack power, resistance to weather elements, and more.

Swift Violets, a relatively uncommon flower, exclusively grow in specific locations. Unlike most flowers, they thrive on high cliffs, which means Link will need to engage in substantial climbing in order to gather them. Thankfully, there are a few techniques that can streamline the process of farming Swift Violets in Tears of the Kingdom.

Swift Violet Locations

Swift Violets can be found in the Hebra Mountains, Tabantha Frontier, and the Gerudo Highlands. If players follow the recommended order of the "Regional Phenomena" main quest, they will pass through Tabantha Frontier and Hebra Mountains for the objective "Tulin of Rito Village." This allows them to easily gather Swift Violets early on in a new playthrough.

Gerudo Highlands

The Gerudo Highlands can prove to be quite frigid for Link's exploration. Should players venture towards the northern cliffs of this icy region, they will discover a collection of Swift Violets adorning the walls of Hemaar's Descent. To reach the summit, one must travel north from the Gerudo Summit, passing by Mystathi's Shelf. The summit itself is accessible through the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower located at coordinates (-3966, -1260, 0426).

Hebra Mountains

Swift Violets can be found in the Hebra Mountains located at coordinates -4070, 3183, 0183. This particular area is situated to the north of Sturnida Basin and to the south of Hebra North Summit. To reach this area, players can launch themselves from the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower located at coordinates -3684, 2343, 0233. It is important to note that this region is quite cold, so it is advisable to have cold-resistance at level 2.

Tabantha Frontier (Tanagar Canyon)

Another location where players can find Swift Violets is within the Tanagar Canyon, situated around -2790, 1641, 0122. This particular spot is located on the opposite side of the Tanagar Canyon, to the north of the Hyrule Ridge Chasm (-2461, 1129, 0162). To reach these coordinates within the canyon, players can either proceed east from the Lucky Clover Gazette or make their way from the Oromuwak Shrine (-3079, 1618, 0243).

Where to Buy Swift Violets

Swift Violets are available for purchase at the Zora's Domain general store. Each Swift Violet is priced at 40 Rupees. In order to obtain all three Swift Violets, Link will need to spend a total of 120 Rupees. It is important to note that the general store restocks its supply every 24 in-game hours. To pass the time and wait for the restock, players can either gather around a campfire or choose to rest at an inn.

Since armor is quite pricey and gems are difficult to come by, it's recommended to hold off on buying Swift Violets until players buy the armor that they need.

Here are some things to keep in mind when farming Swift Violets:

Cold-Resistance

Certain Swift Violets thrive in frigid environments, making it essential for Link to possess at least level 2 heat resistance. If players can afford it, they can acquire two pieces of the Snowquill Set in Rito Village. Alternatively, preparing a warm meal using ingredients like Spicy Peppers will grant Link a temporary cold-resistant boost. Equipping a flame weapon, such as a melee weapon or shield infused with Ruby, presents another effective method of warding off the chilling temperatures.

Stamina Recovery & Stamina Wheels

In order to retrieve a bundle, Link may need to scale some steep cliffs where certain violets are located. To facilitate this task, it is advisable to either prepare Stamina Elixirs by cooking Restless Crickets with a monster part, or obtain the Climbing Gear. Upgrading the Climbing Set to level 2 will greatly reduce the amount of stamina consumed when "jumping while climbing." It is highly recommended to have multiple stamina wheels at hand when exploring areas such as the Gerudo Highlands.

Camera & Sensor+

Having the Camera allows players to capture a photo of a Swift Violet, subsequently adding it to the Hyrule Compendium. Additionally, with the Sensor+, players gain the ability to track nearby Swift Violets' locations. Given the preference of these violets to grow on cliffs, it is strongly advised to acquire the Sensor+ for optimal exploration.

If you do not have the Camera or the Sensor+, follow these steps:

Unlock the Camera by completing the side quest "Camera Work in The Depths." After activating the first Skyview Tower, go back to Lookout Landing and talk to Purah and Josha. Then, accompany Josha to Robbie and speak to either of them to receive the "Camera Work in The Depths" quest. Once you complete it, the Camera will be added to Link's Abilities and the Hyrule Compendium.

After finishing any of the "Regional Phenomena" quests like "Tulin of Rito Village," "Yunobo of Goron City," "Sidon of Zora's Domain," or "Riju of Gerudo Town," head to the Great Plateau and enter The Depths through one of its Chasms. Obtain the Auto-Build Ability from the Great Abandoned Central Mine and present it to Josha. Next, use Auto-Build to repair Robbie's hot air balloon.

Engage in a conversation with Robbie, who will inform Link about his intention to return to the Ancient Tech Lab in Hateno Village.

When you arrive in Hateno, make sure to visit the lab and speak to Robbie. By doing so, you will gain access to a series of side quests that focus on enhancing the functionality of the Purah Pad. One particular quest called "Presenting Sensor+" requires you to capture an image of a monster and present it to Robbie. Upon completing this task, you will receive the Sensor+, an upgraded version of the device.

Switching gears to the culinary realm, Swift Violets offer themselves as a delightful addition for cooking purposes. Adding a dash of these vibrant flowers to a simmering pot grants the dish a swift effect, augmenting Link's agility for a limited duration. Additionally, they prove invaluable in preparing certain nourishing meals, which can then be offered to Malanya to enhance the prowess of our trusty equine companions.

Players have the option to enhance their weapons and arrows by fusing Swift Violets. However, with a Fuse Power of 1, the damage inflicted will be minimal. The better alternative is to use them for cooking or grinding them into purple dye at the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village.

Saving Swift Violets for armor upgrading is arguably the most valuable way to utilize them. This feature becomes accessible in Tears of the Kingdom after players complete the side quest "Serenade to a Great Fairy" at Woodland Stable. Prior to unlocking "Serenade to a Great Fairy," Link must first speak to Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette (located just before the bridge to Rito Village) to initiate the side quest "Potential Princess Sightings!"

To achieve the highest armor level, players must complete individual quests with the Stable Trotters to unlock each of the four Great Fairies in Hyrule. Restoring all the Great Fairy Fountains is necessary. Upgrade the following armor sets using Swift Violets:

Level

Defense (per Armor Piece)

Required Materials (per Armor Piece)

Sand Boots

★★★★

20

  • x10 Swift Violet
  • x5 Hearty Lizard
  • x5 Molduga Guts

Snow Boots

★★★★

20

  • x20 Swift Violets
  • x2 Naydra's Scale

Climbing Set (i.e, Climbing Gear, Climber's Bandana, Climbing Boots)

★★★★

20

  • x20 Swift Violet
  • x10 Fire Keese Wing

Upgrading the Sand Boots and Snow Boots is unnecessary unless players desire more durable footwear for navigating through the desert and snowy terrains. These boots do not form part of any armor sets.

However, the Climbing Set does offer a Set Bonus, although this can only be obtained by upgrading each individual piece of the Set to level-2. To fully maximize the Climbing Set, a total of 60 Swift Violets will be required, with each piece needing 20. This may be considered a significant investment for armor that reaches a maximum defense of 20 at level-4. Therefore, it may be more advantageous to upgrade armor sets that have a higher defense rating, such as the Champion's Leathers or the Armor of the Wild.
