"Unknown Huge Silhouette" Reward

The Depths, one of the three maps/areas in Tears of the Kingdom, offers an unexpected twist for players. While many were excited about the Sky Islands, The Depths introduces dangerous and unfamiliar monsters lurking beneath the surface of Hyrule.

By assisting Tears of the Kingdom's Monster-Control Crew, players can embark on the side quest "Unknown Huge Silhouette." Link's objective is to locate and defeat a creature known as a Frox, which resides within The Depths. To navigate this challenging area, players should ensure they have an ample supply of Brightbloom Seeds to illuminate their path.

How to Unlock "Unknown Huge Silhouette"

To unlock the "Unknown Huge Silhouette" and two other side quests, namely "Unknown Sky Giant" and "Unknown Three-Headed Monster," players must fulfill three prerequisites. They are required to speak to Gralens, a member of the Monster-Control Crew in Tears of the Kingdom, at the Lookout Landing Shelter. Gralens can be located standing beside a table where a map of Hyrule is displayed. During the conversation with Gralens, inquire about the giant monsters to initiate the aforementioned side quests.

To track the locations of these monsters, refer to the Adventure Log. Simply press (-) to open the map, then switch to the Adventure Log tab and choose one of the WANTED side quests. This will automatically set a yellow destination marker, simplifying the completion of all three quests for players.

After completing the "WANTED" side quests, return to Gralens and ask about the new monsters. Choose the option "the huge silhouette" to activate the "Unknown Huge Silhouette" side quest. Gralens will then indicate the monster's location on Link's map, which happens to be in The Depths.

Before heading to the designated area, players should ensure they possess a weapon capable of breaking ore deposits. It is also advisable to carry bomb flowers. The monster is located close to two Lightroots, so players might consider bringing some Brightbloom Seeds for added precaution.

"Unknown Huge Silhouette" Location

Upon successfully defeating the formidable Stone Talus in the highly sought-after "WANTED: Stone Talus" quest, players are granted the invaluable opportunity to synergize their weapon with the mighty Talus Heart. Infused with unparalleled power, the Talus Heart bestows upon its bearer the ability to unleash devastating "critical" damage upon ore deposits.

The monster can be found slightly northwest of the Stakijat Lightroot coordinates (0343, -1008, -0468). To reach this area, players can enter the Hyrule Field Chasm and proceed towards the southeast direction. As they approach the yellow marker, a Frox will come into sight, referred to as the "silhouette" in the side quest.

To defeat Frox, break the ore deposits on its back. Although slow-moving, it can generate a shockwave by slamming into the ground, which can harm Link. Additionally, it has the ability to inhale anything that comes too close. Sprinting can help players avoid being sucked into Frox's mouth.

After successfully defeating Frox, gather any dropped items before warping back to Lookout Landing.

Tips for Defeating Frox

Similar to the Hinox, a Frox can be immobilized by aiming at its eye. This action will cause the Frox to descend, providing an opportunity for Link to ascend its limbs and reach its back. Prepare a weapon suitable for breaking deposits, such as a sword, lance, or two-handed weapon fused with a Stone Talus Heart. Begin striking the deposits, switching to the next one once the current one shatters.

When the Frox regains its composure, it may attempt to launch Link into the air if he remains on its back. In this scenario, quickly activate the paraglider using the X-button and guide Link over the Frox's head. Employ an arrow to strike the Frox's eye and render it temporarily immobile once more.

Alternatively, the Frox can opt to open its mouth. In such a scenario, one can attach a bomb flower to an arrow and shoot it directly into the Frox's gaping mouth. This clever tactic will cause the Frox to ingest the bomb, resulting in a stupefied state that grants Link ample opportunity to ascend its forelimbs and once more secure a position on its dorsal surface.

Upon reporting to Gralens, players should select the first option to successfully mark the task as complete. As a token of appreciation, Gralens will reward Link with 100 Rupees for fulfilling the task. In the event that players have already vanquished the Frox near the Stakijat Lightroot, they will still be granted the 100 Rupee reward once they inquire about the "huge silhouette."
