Embarking on the "All-Clucking Cucco" Quest in Tears of the KingdomAs Link takes a break from his quest to find Zelda in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, he can explore a plethora of side quests and adventures. From encountering hitchhiking Koroks to meeting fashion-forward Hylians, there is never a dull moment in Hyrule. However, one particular adventure that stands out is the "All-Clucking Cucco" quest, which involves finding a prophetic Cucco and completing its trials. In this guide, we will explore how to begin this quest, where to find the prophetic Cucco, and how to successfully complete the trials to finish the quest.
Link's encounter with a chatty Cucco in "All-Clucking Cucco" proves to be an unexpected twist in his investigation of Princess Zelda's sightings, as the feathered friend appears to hold knowledge about Link's own past.
How to Begin All-Clucking Cucco in Tears of the Kingdom
To start the "Potential Princess Sightings" quest line, Link should pay a visit to Penn and Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette (-3258, 1764, 0119) in the Hebra region, located directly east of Rito Village. In order to gather information for the paper, Link and Penn will need to investigate several rumors at different stables throughout Hyrule. "All-Clucking Cucco" is one of the missions that counts towards completing this quest line.
To increase the chances of encountering a potential princess, Link can journey to the South Akkala Stable located in the southwestern part of the Akkala Highlands. The precise location can be viewed in the image above.
Players can locate Penn, the Rito reporter from Lookout Landing and the Lucky Clover Gazette building, behind the stable situated in the sheep pen. Penn can be found engrossed in thoughts about a prophecy and it is recommended that players approach him to initiate the "All-Clucking Cucco" mission.
Where to Find the Prophetic Cucco
Despite his exhaustive search, Penn informs Link that there are currently no new leads in the area. However, he does have a unique solution to their predicament: consulting a prophetic Cucco. This particular bird is known to share visions of the future and may hold the key to uncovering their next clue.
Penn points to a tree a few steps away, explaining that it's a popular spot for people seeking advice from a prophetic Cucco. Link approaches the tree and notices a small crowd gathered around it, all hoping to hear from the wise bird. He only needs to speak with Lonni, who is at the front of the queue, and she kindly lets him skip ahead.
How to Complete the Cucco's Trials
Link is taken aback when the Cucco addresses him by name and mentions his quest for Princess Zelda. The bird then proposes a series of trials for Link to prove himself, promising to reveal more information if he succeeds. Without hesitation, Link agrees to begin the trials immediately.
Trial One: Reach the Top
The first trial requires Link to reach the very top of the Horse-God statue on top of the stable. Link has 45 seconds to complete the task.
There are various approaches that players can take in this situation. One option is to scale the front of the tent and then use the Ascend ability to enter through the bottom of the Horse-God's head. Alternatively, players can attach a rocket to a shield, but this requires Link to possess the appropriate Zonai capsule beforehand.
Trial Two: Three Logs
Link can easily accomplish this task by venturing to the nearby wooded area adjacent to the stable, where he can efficiently fell three trees. Once he has obtained the necessary lumber, he should promptly return to the Cucco to complete the trial within the allotted time of one minute and thirty seconds.
To effectively fuse the logs, it's recommended to utilize Ultrahand. Rather than combining the logs in a raft-like manner, players should connect two logs together end to end to simplify the uphill transportation process. Upon completing the second trial, the Cucco will summon Link and deliver a unique message.
How to Finish "All-Clucking Cuckoo" in Tears of the Kingdom
The absurdity of the situation is highlighted by the Cucco, who mocks Link for believing that a talking Cucco is possible. However, it is soon revealed that the Cucco is merely a disguise for the Yiga clan, and Link must defeat three Yiga Footsoldiers. Patience is key in this battle, as the Footsoldiers are not particularly formidable. Watch out for their disappearing act, and be sure to move quickly if they vanish into a cloud of smoke above.
After successfully dealing with the Yiga, Penn will approach Link to discuss his payment, which will be determined based on the number of rumors he has reported. As a reward for completing these missions, Link will be granted the entire Froggy armor set. Moving forward, Link can continue his journey by searching for Penn at any stable in Hyrule.
