Summary

In a fateful duel with Ahsoka, Marrok met his demise as she deftly sliced his midriff, exposing his true identity as a reanimated Nightbrother. Shortly after, Marrok mysteriously vanished within a swirling haze of emerald smoke.
Marrok's origins are connected to Morgan Elsbeth, a Nightsister from Dathomir. She specifically created him to carry out her commands. As the first non-Jedi Inquisitor, Marrok's story aligns more closely with Ahsoka than the several theories surrounding his identity. In the fourth episode of Ahsoka, the truth about Marrok, the show's enigmatic Inquisitor, is finally revealed. By the end of the episode, his fate is also unveiled. Ahsoka's various characters have already been confirmed, leaving little room for mystery. Throughout the Star Wars saga, familiar faces such as the Jedi herself, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and some of the show's antagonists have appeared.
With that being said, there has been widespread speculation surrounding a particular inclusion in Ahsoka - the identity of Ahsoka's enigmatic Inquisitor, Marrok. Alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Force-users Baylan and Shin, and the Nightsister Elsbeth, Marrok has been confirmed as a secondary antagonist in the show. Marrok Was Killed In His Duel With Ahsoka
One of the elements confirmed to appear by Ahsoka episode 4's ending based on the culmination of the prior episode and the show's marketing was a duel between Ahsoka and Marrok. This duel coincided with a rematch between Shin Hati and Sabine Wren before Ahsoka went on to face Baylan Skoll. Given her subsequent clash with Baylan, Ahsoka episode 4 saw the death of Marrok when facing Ahsoka. After a brief skirmish, Ahsoka decided to exercise her patience and allow Marrok to come at her. By doing so, Ahsoka skillfully dodged the attack of the Inquisitor and swiftly sliced Marrok's midriff, emerging victorious in the confrontation, and shedding light on his true identity.
Marrok's Death Revealed His True Origin - A Nighbrother
Marrok's identity is intricately linked to Morgan Elsbeth. The confirmation that Elsbeth is a Nightsister of Dathomir in Ahsoka episode 4 unveiled Marrok's genuine origin as a Nightbrother. When Ahsoka slashed her lightsaber, vibrant green smoke seeped from the wound, causing Marrok to vanish completely amongst the haze tainted with a green hue. This occurrence affirms that Elsbeth created him as a Nightbrother solely to carry out her commands.

Marrok Was Officially The First Inquisitor To Be A Non-Jedi
to various instances of Nightsister Magick observed in the Star Wars canon. In the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the protagonist Cal Kestis embarks on a journey to Dathomir. It is during his time there that he encounters Merrin, a Nightsister who possesses the ability to reanimate deceased Nightbrothers, commanding them to attack the Jedi. Once defeated, the Nightbrothers vanish into a green smoke, much like the aftermath of Marrok's defeat in Ahsoka episode 4. Therefore, Marrok is essentially a resuscitated Nightbrother, brought back to life by Elsbeth to serve as her obedient puppet.Marrok's true fate has one particularly intriguing element - he stands as the first Inquisitor in Star Wars canon who did not fall from the Jedi ranks. Previously, every member of the Inquisitorius was a former Jedi, and this served not only to elucidate their Force abilities but also to underscore their proficiency in hunting down the remaining Jedi, given their prior understanding of Jedi thought processes. Whether encountered in the Star Wars Rebels series or in video games such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, every canon Inquisitor thus far can trace their origins back to the Jedi Order.
With Marrok, however, the situation is quite different. Despite numerous theories suggesting that Marrok might be Barriss Offee, a former Jedi who fought alongside Ahsoka, or even Ezra Bridger, as a continuation of the recurring theme of Star Wars' Inquisitors, his true identity in Ahsoka episode 4 defies these assumptions. Contrary to being a former Jedi, Marrok is actually a product of Morgan Elsbeth's Magick. Similar to the adversaries encountered in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Marrok was a resurrected Nightbrother under Elsbeth's control, with her having complete dominion over his mind. Upon his destruction, his body dissipated into Magick, providing clear evidence of his non-Jedi status.
Marrok's True Identity Fits With Ahsoka Much Better Than Any Theories
Despite the disappointment stemming from fan speculation, Marrok's true identity reveal in Ahsoka episode 4 aligns seamlessly with the show's storyline. The various theories surrounding his identity, such as Starkiller, Ezra Bridger, and Barriss Offee, would have required significant deviations from established character development and Star Wars canon. Conversely, it is far more rational to attribute Marrok's existence to Elsbeth's Magick and his Nightbrother lineage.
The name Marrok further emphasizes the Arthurian connections. In old Arthurian mythology, Marrok served under King Arthur but was cursed by a witch. This connection is reinforced by Morgan Elsbeth, who is named after the sorceress Morgan le Fay from Arthurian legends. Marrok's curse originated from being brought back to life by the sorceress Morgan Elsbeth, which explains his unwavering loyalty to her. While different from the various theories surrounding the character's mysterious presence, the reveal in episode 4 of Ahsoka represents a significant development in the story and characters of Disney+'s latest installment. New episodes of Ahsoka are released on Disney+ every Tuesday at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
