Disney has generated significant anticipation for its upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka on Disney Plus. A newly released image hints at the involvement of a familiar character in the show. Additionally, Rosario Dawson, the lead actress portraying the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano, recently addressed the longstanding rumors surrounding Hayden Christensen's potential return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Ahsoka.
For years, speculations about Christensen's appearance in Ahsoka have circulated, which is understandable considering the established connection between Anakin and Ahsoka. In The Clone Wars animated series, Ahsoka initially served as a young Jedi apprentice under Anakin's guidance, with both characters still in the early stages of their respective journeys. Throughout the series, their relationship deepened, evolving into a bond of mentorship and genuine friendship. Consequently, Anakin's tragic descent into the dark side added a poignant layer to Ahsoka's personal narrative, making their dynamic all the more impactful.
Interestingly, Dawson, who portrays Ahsoka in the series, and Christensen have a shared history. They were classmates at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute during their early years as aspiring actors. "It's truly remarkable and exhilarating," Dawson expressed when discussing their intertwined past with Total Film. "We were teenagers back then, and immediately afterwards I witnessed him stepping into this universe. I never could have imagined that I would have any involvement in it, other than being a fan of his and feeling immensely proud of him." In addition to this sentiment, Total Film has unveiled an intriguing new image that hints at Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Hera Syndulla potentially assuming a leadership role, as she issues commands through a hologram. This could lead to an engrossing development.
However, Dawson remains elusive when it comes to confirming whether Christensen will make an appearance in Ahsoka. While she acknowledges that it would be incredibly cool if he did, Dawson expresses her gratitude for being part of the Star Wars universe alongside him. Despite reports suggesting Christensen's involvement in Ahsoka, it appears to be more of an ongoing rumor rather than a definite confirmation. Fans are already convinced, much like the situation with Alfred Molina returning as Doc Ock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although the studio has yet to officially confirm it, there is still a possibility that fans may be disappointed in the end.
Ahsoka is set to debut on Disney Plus on August 23rd.
