The opportunity to see The 1975 is quickly disappearing. In an announcement during their recent show in Sacramento, California, frontman Matty Healy revealed that the pop-rock band will be taking a break from performing on stage. He expressed his love for performing in front of their fans and thanked them for being present at the show. Healy, aged 34, stated that after this tour, the band will be going on an indefinite hiatus from live performances. Therefore, it is truly special to have the audience in attendance on this memorable night.
Luckily for fans, The 1975 - consisting of Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, and George Daniel - aren't ready to bid farewell just yet. Currently, the band is embarked on their "Still...at Their Very Best" tour, which serves as a follow-up to their previous "The 1975 at Their Very Best" tour that was held in support of their 2022 album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language.
Throughout their tour, The 1975 will be performing in various locations across North America, with their final show on December 2 in Seattle, Washington. Following a two-month break, they will resume their tour in the UK before making their way to other European countries, including France, Spain, Germany, Poland, and Italy. The grand finale of their tour will be held on March 24, 2024, at AFAS Live in Amsterdam.
The 1975’s tour has sparked controversy due to various incidents involving lead singer Matty Healy. In January, Healy made headlines for his actions during a performance of “Love It If We Made It,” where he seemingly made a gesture resembling a Nazi salute. This occurred during a lyric that quoted Donald Trump’s praise of Kanye West. In May, Healy was rumored to be romantically linked to Taylor Swift, which brought attention to his controversial appearance on “The Adam Friedland Show” in February. During the interview, Healy made derogatory remarks about rapper Ice Spice and confessed to watching pornography that depicted the degradation of women of color.

Healy would offer an apology to Ice Spice, but later he would downplay the concerns surrounding his appearance on the podcast. In a profile for The New Yorker, he stated, "It's not really important. No one is sitting at their computer at night feeling down, and then their partner asks, 'What's wrong, darling?' and they respond, 'It's just this thing with Matty Healy.' That doesn't happen." However, he did mention that he would retract his statements if given the chance.
In June, the short-lived relationship between Swift, 33, and Healy came to an end. It's unlikely that Healy, a native of London, will use his upcoming free time to relax and indulge in American football. This seems particularly unlikely.
