Summary
Ahsoka and The Mandalorian season 4 will likely showcase the growing threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn, one of the biggest threats the galaxy has ever faced.
The New Republic's forces and shortcomings will have a significant impact on the impending conflict against Thrawn and the Imperial Remnant. By resurrecting the discontinued series Rangers of the New Republic, there is a chance to delve into the deteriorating heritage of the New Republic and shift the spotlight towards characters such as Hera Syndulla and Ezra Bridger.
Following the success of Ahsoka, Star Wars is in need of resurrecting a cancelled Disney+ TV show that delves into the aftermath of the Empire's downfall. Just like The Mandalorian, Ahsoka provides insight into the state of the galaxy after the Empire's reign. Despite the New Republic's efforts to establish peace, there are still sinister forces at play as the Imperial Remnant seeks to regain control. While The Mandalorian showcased the villainous actions of Moff Gideon, Ahsoka reintroduced one of the galaxy's greatest threats: Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose tactical brilliance is bound to pose a problem in potential future seasons of both Ahsoka and The Mandalorian.
The various Star Wars live-action TV shows are all leading up to Dave Filoni's The Mandalorian movie. Ahsoka Tano and Din Djarin are both expected to play significant roles in the battle against Thrawn and the Imperial Remnant. The New Republic's forces will also play a crucial part in the upcoming struggle. Ahsoka and The Mandalorian season 3 introduced viewers to the highest-ranking officials and procedures of the New Republic, hinting at the flaws within its system. However, future seasons of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka will likely focus more on their respective central characters rather than the growing threat of Thrawn. Nonetheless, one cancelled Star Wars show would serve as the perfect avenue to explore the crumbling legacy of the New Republic.

Rangers of the New Republic Must Be Revived
The Star Wars franchise had plans for a Disney+ series called "Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic," which was set to feature Gina Carano as the lead character, Cara Dune, a Marshal for the New Republic. However, when Carano was removed from future Star Wars projects, the concept for Rangers of the New Republic fell apart. Instead, elements of its storylines were integrated into both The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. For example, in the third episode of The Mandalorian's third season, former Imperial officers are shown being rehabilitated by the New Republic. In addition, Ahsoka explores the New Republic government's distrust of Ahsoka and her allies, featuring numerous scenes depicting this dynamic.
While these storylines are full of potential and effectively establish the eventual downfall of the New Republic, they feel out of place in shows that should primarily focus on their titular characters. The Mandalorian season 3 episode detracted too much attention from Din Djarin, Grogu, and the quest to reclaim Mandalore, and Hera Syndulla's struggles with the New Republic as a General sometimes seemed like a distraction from Ahsoka and her Padawan Sabine Wren's efforts to prevent the villains from reaching Star Wars' secondary galaxy. By producing Rangers of the New Republic now, Lucasfilm can seamlessly continue all of these storylines without disrupting the buildup to The Mandalorian movie.
