Viewers were amazed when Luke Bryan was seen with an IV drip at the judges' table during American Idol auditions. The singer, 47, had his arm out while a nurse looked for a vein on the Sunday, March 3, episode. Katy Perry captured the moment on her phone, while Lionel Richie observed from a distance.
Bryan shared with the camera that Katy was having him try his first IV with vitamins. Perry, who is 39 years old, explained that Bryan needed to try this treatment because he was stubbornly refusing to take oral vitamins.
“You won’t orally take vitamins,” Perry told him. “We have to stick you with them.”

As the nurse poked his arm, Bryan let out a scream before contestant Aniston Pate left the judges speechless over her “Modern Dolly Parton” performance.
Idol came back for its 22nd season in February. Dustin Lynch recently shared that Luke Bryan was worried about losing his job on the singing competition last year. This was after he made some controversial remarks about another country artist. Luke Bryan has been a judge on the show since 2018.
"We saw all these articles popping up like, ‘Oh, crap,’” Lynch, 38, shared on the February 6 episode of iHeartPodcasts and MeatEater’s “God’s Country” podcast. “So [Bryan] had to apologize. … Now he’s stressing about, obviously, American Idol.”
Lynch went on to say, “Who cares about the country music thing? It’s American Idol. … He gets to the point where he can’t sleep at night because he’s worried about what my parents think.”
Lynch said that Bryan asked for his parents’ email addresses to make amends to them, noting that “just shows you what kinda guy Luke is.”

Bryan previously sparked controversy at the 2023 Crash My Playa music festival when he made fun of Lynch while introducing him on stage.
Bryan praised a man for his clean bill of health, stating that he has consumed the most alcohol, vomited the most, used the most drugs and IVs, and taken the most STD tests. He then introduced the man as Dustin Lynch, who received a clean bill of health without any diseases. Bryan later went on Instagram Story to provide clarification on his previous statement.
Bryan mentioned in January 2023 that Dustin Lynch is one of his closest friends. He expressed his deep respect for him, clarifying that his introduction of Dustin was meant to be sarcastic. Bryan admitted that his choice of words may have been too extreme, leading to some misunderstanding among listeners.
In a follow-up statement, Bryan emphasized that he had spoken to Dustin and that there were no hard feelings between them. He reassured everyone that their relationship was solid and apologized to those who may have misinterpreted his sense of humor and sarcasm. Bryan acknowledged that this dynamic between them had been ongoing for quite some time.
American Idol airs on ABC Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
