Luke Bryan defended Katy Perry amidst the criticism she faced during the 21st season of American Idol. According to the "Country Girl" singer, Perry has been dealing with similar situations throughout her career, and they all understand the pressure of judging contestants that viewers at home have fallen in love with. Bryan acknowledged that judges cannot always impress everyone and often face negative reactions on social media. However, he emphasized that he, along with Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, always strive to do their best while judging the contestants.

During season 21 of Idol, Perry faced criticism from viewers and contestants alike. She was accused of “mom-shaming” after making a joke about a contestant having three children at a young age, and was even booed by the audience for telling a contestant to wear less glitter. Some compared her criticism to the intensity of Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model. However, Bryan defended Perry, pointing out that she shouldn't be criticized for trying to have fun and make the show entertaining. He admired her ability to handle the pressure of being in the public eye for so long.

Liebe, for her part, reacted to Perry’s response to her audition in a candid TikTok shared in March.

At the time of her audition, Liebe revealed to the judges that she is a mom of three.

Shocked that the singer had several children at just 25, the “Dark Horse” artist leaned against Bryan as if she was going to pass out.

Katy's comment about Liebe's table-laying habits didn't sit well with her, prompting Liebe to call out the singer for her divisive words after the episode aired.

"I find it admirable when women uplift and support each other, and I strongly believe that mom-shaming is unnecessary. Being a mother and a woman is already challenging enough on its own," expressed the California native. "As long as you are a loving and responsible mother to your children, that is all that truly matters. Other opinions and criticisms hold no significance." A month later, Liebe withdrew from the competition, stating her priority to stay home with her kids.

"I am truly grateful for this amazing opportunity, but I have decided that this will be my final performance. My heart belongs at home with my precious little ones who require my undivided attention. I appreciate the persuasion of the judges, but my family needs me more. Thank you for this wonderful experience."
