In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players have unleashed their creativity in construction, pushing the limits of what can be built within the game. Despite being less than a month old, the game boasts a plethora of impressive vehicles, gadgets, and structures, ranging from practical hoverbikes to grandiose walking legs that serve more as a spectacle than a strategic advantage in battles against the Demon King. Here are some of the most bizarre and ingenious inventions that players have concocted thus far.
8 Bokoblin-Flinger 5000: TWolf201
A unique take on the typical spinning trap or enemy/Link-launching trebuchet that is commonly used in TotK is showcased in this build. Rather than being placed on the ground or a Homing Cart, TWolf201 placed it on the front of their vehicle, which was constructed almost entirely from Zonai Big Wheels.
In essence, this amounts to a drivable propeller that has a much higher chance to fling Bokoblins into the sky, and that includes Boss Bokoblins.
7 The Zonai Slapper
The following gadget on the roster is an automated mech-type creation that has been concocted by players in conjunction with other frightful angelic or demonic contraptions. However, this particular invention does not shoot lasers or cannons from a distance. The Zonai Slapper, crafted by user ClearFlat, is designed to physically slap Demons (and Constructs, if necessary) in close quarters. Its ingenious implementation of Zonai Stakes and pseudo-pistons to fabricate electrified spike barrier 'slapper hands' makes it an absolute riot to behold as it methodically and effectively obliterates Enemy Camps with its lethal slappers.
6 The World's Largest Segwey
Players have moved beyond creating merely efficient vehicles in Tears of the Kingdom, and are now exploring the possibilities of creating wacky yet functional ones. One such example is the invention of Twitch streamer v_genesis_v, who has devised a segway for getting around Hyrule. While it may seem out of place in a medieval-esque setting, it still fits within the game's futuristic elements, such as Link's horse-shaped motorcycle in the previous game. What sets this segway apart is that it is constructed primarily out of Zonai Stabilizers and Pots, resulting in a tall and delightfully 'wiggly' ride.
5 Presenting...The Snake-O-Cycle
The engineering fan's discovery of the Zonai Pots' ball-and-socket joint mechanism has led to a surge in hilarious vehicle builds. One such creation is Cylibi's invention, which can be found on /r/Hyrule Engineering.
Who needs to worry about the cost of Zonaite when each new addition to the Wheel and Pot segments only adds to the awe-inspiring functionality of this Snake-Bike hybrid? Rather than focusing solely on efficiency, this build prioritizes innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
4 A Korok's Mechanical Ascension
Agree or disagree on whether Koroks are cute or annoying, one thing is certain: the Koroks that require carrying to their destination are just plain lazy. Their backpacks are needlessly stuffed, and they often give up walking before reaching their goal. However, there is hope for these lazy Koroks thanks to a device created by user ghostlolllll (or Ghostlollw). This exo-suit not only assists the Koroks but also grants them independence without constantly relying on Link. Although the suit's appearance may be visually jarring and the Koroks may appear to be mechanically forced, progress sometimes requires sacrifice.
3 Wheels On Wheels For Maximum Speed
Engineering in Tears of the Kingdom has seen a recent breakthrough with the discovery of a hyper-specific detail. Interestingly, wooden wheels used in carts such as the ones employed by the Stable Trotters have less friction on the ground in comparison to other types of wheels. This discovery raises questions on how such information can be applied in the creation of unconventional machines.
2 The Demon King's Meat Cage
After hours of hard work, engineers like TWolf201 managed to attach several wooden wheels onto a Zonai Big Wheel, creating a monstrous monowheel motorcycle. Surprisingly, the addition of wheels actually increased the vehicle's speed due to the unique friction of the wooden wheels. As a result, this ride is now considered one of the fastest in all of Hyrule.
However, what truly sets Tears of the Kingdom apart from other games in the series is the epic boss battle that awaits players at the end. It is a thrilling and challenging fight that truly tests the player's skills and strategy, and is sure to leave a lasting impression.
tmobley03 hilariously subverted the intense atmosphere leading up to Link's battle with the Demon King by trapping him in a cage made entirely of meat. This strategy, which can be used against any enemy in the game, is particularly amusing given that the first king of Hyrule failed to stop the Demon King.
A Korok-centric build is up next, and it's not too far off from the Mad Max-style vehicle crucifixes that some players have made for Koroks. However, this invention takes it to a new level of depravity as user DougRugras has created an automated process for torturing Koroks. The build, which includes a Korok-cooking conveyer belt, is surprisingly complex and it's quite amusing that someone dedicated so much time to "torturing" fictional forest spirits. While this machine doesn't serve any real purpose in-game, it's definitely worth building just for the sheer hilarity of watching a Korok go through it. Plus, it could potentially be used for cooking actual food.
