A fan of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has shared a piece of artwork and a fascinating theory about the game's gym leader, Iono. This theory has captivated many fans who specialize in electric-type Pokemon.
Similar to its predecessors, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature a set of new gym leaders that players must challenge in order to become the ultimate Pokemon trainer. Obtaining gym badges not only signifies one's progress but also enables trainers to better control their Pokemon as they level up. Therefore, every gym encounter holds great significance on the player's journey.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the gym challenges preceding the actual battles are uniquely designed to provide players with diverse experiences and game modes. Iono's challenge revolves around involving players in her renowned livestream. However, some avid fans are speculating whether Iono's appearance is merely a disguise or persona, akin to that of V-Tubers.
Reddit user DaveyGamersLocker shared an image showcasing their interpretation of Iono, the Levincia Gym Leader. The image reveals a surprising twist - Iono's true form is a Magneton operating a mech suit designed to resemble a human. It becomes apparent that her face and hair are simply a mask, concealing the core face of the Magneton. Interestingly, the other two Magnemite attached to her head are mistaken for decorative accessories when she is in complete disguise. Despite Iono's affinity for electric-type Pokemon, she curiously never employs Magnemite or Magneton in battle.
Enthusiastic fans quickly jumped on board, contributing humorous ideas that further expanded upon DaveyGamersLocker's theory. One clever suggestion proposed that the mech body might contain additional Magneton or Magnemite. Observant individuals noted that theories about Iono's appearance being different from what meets the eye have circulated since her introduction as a character. Some even speculated that she might be a robot operated by Rotom or, prior to the game's release, a V-Tuber whose true appearance starkly contrasts with her livestream persona.
While some may consider these theories to be bizarre or foolish, the series has undeniably presented numerous examples of deceiving the player when it comes to the true appearance of a Pokemon or person. For instance, both Ditto and Mimikyu are not what they initially appear to be, and even in the anime, Team Rocket's rare speaking Meowth has been seen pretending to be other Pokemon. Although the notion that Iono is anything other than what she appears to be is highly unlikely, it's understandable that fans would invent entertaining theories suggesting otherwise.
Now you can get your hands on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, available for Nintendo Switch.
