Summary
The live-action Ahsoka series on Disney+ will potentially feature Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, exploring his relationship with Ahsoka Tano.
Christensen's return in the teaser trailers for Ahsoka confirms his involvement, with his voice being heard in apparent flashbacks throughout The Clone Wars. It remains uncertain whether Anakin will make an appearance as a Force ghost; however, it is conceivable that Christensen might also portray Darth Vader in a flashback scene, considering Ahsoka's lingering connection to Vader from her past.
With the live-action Ahsoka series premiering on Disney+ on August 23rd, fans are eagerly anticipating the appearance of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka Tano first entered the Star Wars universe as Anakin's Padawan learner in the 2008 film Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Despite initial criticism, she has become a beloved character, with her vibrant personality and impressive skills with a lightsaber adding depth to Anakin's story. Despite parting ways in The Clone Wars season 7, Anakin remains a central figure in Ahsoka's journey as both a character and a Jedi.
While Star Wars has already featured Ahsoka in live-action alongside Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett, fans have yet to see Ahsoka and Anakin together onscreen. The movies largely overlooked Ahsoka's relationship with Anakin since The Clone Wars was released after the prequel trilogy. Having Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson portray Anakin and Ahsoka together in the Ahsoka series would finally give viewers a chance to see Ahsoka's impact during The Clone Wars, which, until now, has only been explored in animated form. Fortunately, it seems that the Ahsoka series will fulfill this desire by bringing Christensen and Dawson together in their respective roles.
Ahsoka Teasers Have Confirmed Hayden Christensen's Return In Ahsoka
Through teaser trailers promoting the Ahsoka series, it has been confirmed that Anakin, portrayed by Hayden Christensen, will be making a return. In one particular teaser, Christensen's voice can be heard conversing with Ahsoka in a manner reminiscent of Matt Lanter—Anakin's voice actor in The Clone Wars. The dialogue in the teaser suggests that Christensen's voice is likely from a flashback during The Clone Wars, as he discusses droids and advises Ahsoka to trust her instincts. However, it is also possible that Christensen may appear in the present timeline of the Ahsoka series.
It's Unknown Whether Anakin Will Also Appear As A Force Ghost
Although Christensen’s voice has been confirmed for Ahsoka, we have yet to see any official images of him appearing in person. Unfortunately, the Ahsoka series is set long after Anakin Skywalker's demise in Return of the Jedi, making it impossible for him to appear alive in the present. However, considering that Anakin's Force ghost has visited both Luke Skywalker and Leia Skywalker in other canon material, it does seem peculiar that he wouldn't also visit his former Padawan and provide solace to her in light of his passing.
Hayden Christensen is expected to make multiple appearances in the upcoming series Ahsoka. Aside from his previous roles as Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader in The Clone Wars and as a Force ghost, there are hints that he may also appear in a full suit as Darth Vader in a flashback. A memorable moment for Ahsoka in Star Wars Rebels was her duel with Vader, and the sound of his iconic breathing can be heard in one of the trailers for Ahsoka, suggesting that her past with him continues to impact her. Fans can look forward to Hayden Christensen lending his voice to the series and potentially making a physical appearance as well. Mark your calendars for the premiere of the first two episodes of Ahsoka on Wednesday, August 23, exclusively on Disney+.
