Brown is not the sole Star Wars voice actor who has made the leap to live-action. In The Mandalorian season 2, Katee Sackhoff made a comeback as Bo-Katan Kryze, whereas Steve Blum made a brief return to voice Zeb Orrelios in season 3. Star Wars is progressively blurring the boundaries between its live-action and animated ventures, as elements from one medium can seamlessly cross over into another. Brown's involvement in Ahsoka is yet another exciting inclusion that suggests the possibility of more Star Wars characters making a comeback.
Clancy Brown Plays The Live-Action Governor Azadi In Ahsoka
Clancy Brown reprises his role as Lothol Governor Ryder Azadi in Ahsoka season 1, episode 1 "Part One." In Star Wars Rebels, he had previously voiced the character, making him one of the Star Wars voice actors whose characters have transitioned to live-action. Azadi had been imprisoned by the Empire and replaced by Governor Arihnda Pryce, but he managed to escape and ultimately joined the rebels on Lothol, playing a crucial role in liberating the planet. Ahsoka later confirms that he has resumed his position as governor after the conclusion of the Rebels series, with Brown flawlessly capturing the appearance and voice of his animated counterpart.
Clancy Brown's Previous Mandalorian Appearance Explained
Brown is no stranger to Star Wars live-action, having previously portrayed the Devaronian Burg in season 1, episode 6 of The Mandalorian titled "Chapter 6: The Prisoner." The formidable presence and destructive tendencies of Brown's character were reminiscent of his role as the voice of Savage Opress in The Clone Wars. This made him an ideal choice to embody the sheer strength required for a high-tension heist episode. Brown's recurring appearances throughout the Star Wars universe showcase his versatility in portraying both familiar and new characters. It will undoubtedly be fascinating to witness whether he, or any other beloved characters, make a return in the highly-anticipated upcoming Ahsoka episodes.
