During The Game Awards 10-Year Concert, an orchestra performance for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 seemingly revealed that Harry Osborn is portrayed as Venom in the game. While the previous installments, 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man and 2020's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, did not explicitly disclose the symbiote's human host, hints were given regarding Osborn's involvement in future titles through the secret endings. This year's PlayStation Showcase unveiled Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and confirmed that Peter Parker and Miles Morales would confront Venom as one of the primary antagonists. However, the identity of the character behind the symbiote remained a mystery, although fans strongly believe it to be Harry Osborn. Director Bryan Intihar also emphasized that Eddie Brock, the original alter-ego of Venom, would not be featured in the game, further validating the fans' theory. A video presented during the concert now appears to virtually confirm the true identity of Venom.
Content: In a recently shared video by YouTuber Evan Filarca, Insomniac revealed the new main theme for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The video showcased exciting visuals for the game, primarily focusing on the collaboration between the two web slingers. Towards the end of the video, an intriguing scene depicted Norman Osborn approaching Harry, who was visibly adorned with black tendrils on his arms, directly alluding to Venom. Notably, the same tendrils were also displayed on the ambient screens surrounding the stage.
While the story may not directly depict Harry as Venom, fans speculate based on the gameplay trailer for Spider-Man 2. The trailer depicted Peter Parker sporting the symbiote suit as he pursued Lizard. Fans believe that Peter will eventually find a way to separate himself from the symbiote, leading it to reach Harry, who would then transform into Venom.
Spider-Man 2, alongside Venom, will also feature Kraven the Hunter as one of the game's antagonists. It remains uncertain whether Kraven will serve as the primary antagonist leading up to Venom's appearance or if it will be the other way around, mirroring the narrative structure of the first Spider-Man game where Mr. Negative was the initial villain followed by Doctor Octopus. PlayStation 5 users can anticipate the release of Spider-Man 2 on October 20.
