The Hilarious Reaction of a Solitude NPC: A Skyrim Player's Unforgettable Encounter

A Skyrim player gets a hilarious reaction from a Solitude NPC after killing Commander Maro as part of the Dark Brotherhood questline. The unexpected and humorous encounter has left players amused and intrigued.

The Unpredictable World of Skyrim NPCs

A Skyrim player has received a hilarious reaction from an NPC after killing Commander Maro. Similar to The Elder Scrolls title before it, Skyrim is full of unpredictable NPCs, with many providing unique dialogue, but this may be among the least expected occurrences.

Many Skyrim side quests provide their own stories separate from the main objectives, making many areas of the map relevant. There are Skyrim guilds like The Companions, Thieves Guild, and Mages of the College of Winterhold which players can receive a string of quests. One of these is the Dark Brotherhood, which tasks players with completing contracts by assassinating certain NPCs. The Dark Brotherhood gets its orders from a strange corpse called the Night Mother. This player was completing one of the final requests from the Night Mother when an NPC approached them in response.

Reddit user AllForSkrimp42 recently shared a clip of the Skyrim Dark Brotherhood quest Hail Sithis. The player is at the stage of the quest in which they're instructed to kill Commander Maro in Solitude. The video begins with Maro speaking his final words, which are initiated by the Dark Brotherhood progression. Just as Maro prepares to unsheath his sword and fight the Skyrim Dragonborn, the player attacks him twice, with the second swing causing a kill camera. After the graphic kill, an NPC stands over Maro's corpse and says that they're going to locate who killed him. The Dragonborn is then left bewildered as the NPC turns around and walks away.

Players looking to replicate this experience can complete quests with Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood until prompted to kill Commander Maro. They must first progress through some contracts and complete the quest called To Kill an Empire. While the Dragonborn is instructed to kill Commander Maro in Hail Sithis, the action is optional. Should players not kill Maro, the character will remain in the Solitude docks for the remainder of their gameplay. With Skyrim having a wide range of NPC interactions, it remains endlessly replayable for some fans.

The Intriguing Dynamics of NPC Interactions

Skyrim has many lines of dialogue that are repeated between NPCs, like the guards' infamous story about taking an arrow to the knee. Given that this NPC was standing nearby as the Dragonborn killed Maro, it may have had a more hostile response. The player wasn't crouched as they killed Maro which adds even more questions to the interaction. On the other hand, this could be a case of a coincidental line of dialogue that made the moment funnier than it otherwise would've been.

The Endless Replayability of Skyrim

Skyrim's vast world and diverse NPCs create an environment where unexpected and humorous encounters can take place. This incident with the Solitude NPC is just one example of the countless unique interactions players can experience. With its wide range of quests and guilds, Skyrim offers endless replayability as players can approach each quest in various ways, leading to different outcomes and dialogues. The unpredictable nature of NPC interactions in Skyrim adds a layer of excitement and amusement to the game, making it a beloved title for fans of open-world RPGs.
