The English dub of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 is now available for fans of the popular anime on Crunchyroll. After a year since the conclusion of Season 2, which aired from April 6 to June 29, 2022, the highly anticipated third season is back. With Season 1 (January 9 to June 6, 2019) receiving immense success and Season 2 facing criticism for aspects such as world-building, character development, and pacing, the expectations are high for Season 3 to win back the hearts of fans.
The third season – based on Aneko Yusagi and Seira Minami’s isekai light novel – maintains the 12-episode format of the previous season. However, it also brings notable production changes. Director Hitoshi Hago – known for Made in Abyss – takes the helm as director, replacing season two’s Masato Jinbo. Returning to the series’ successful origins, Kinema Citrus takes full responsibility for production, and the authors of the light novel confirm their active involvement in shaping the storyline. With Kevin Penkin (Tower of God) as the returning music composer and the Japanese voice cast remaining the same, it’s clear that Season 3 is geared towards an exceptional redemption season.
