Court documents in Kevin Costner’s ongoing divorce proceedings with estranged wife Christine Baumgartner have revealed the details of the actor's extravagant spending habits. Despite earning a staggering $20 million annually, Costner's wife has requested $248,000 per month in support, citing their monthly expenses of over $550,000. It is worth noting that Costner had taken legal action to remove Baumgartner from their shared home, prompting her to file the paperwork outlining their financial situation.
Baumgartner detailed the family's expenses for the year 2022 to support her argument. Notably, their extravagant purchases included a private jet. The couple spent a staggering $830,000 on gifts throughout the past year, along with $238,000 on medical costs. Additionally, they allocated nearly $100,000 towards gardeners and a ranch manager. Baumgartner's credit card expenses amounted to $222,000, while the couple also indulged in spa services, spending nearly $22,000, and paid $34,000 for golf and club dues. Furthermore, they allocated $84,000 for household help.
According to Baumgartner, the actor has been responsible for several properties as the plaintiff currently has no personal income.
Nearly $2 million was allocated for the expenses related to their property in Aspen, while their beach house in Santa Barbara received $1.2 million. The California compound includes a main house, two additional houses, and a Carpinteria property.
The individual, who is originally from California and has children named Cayden (16), Hayes (14), and Grace (13) with Costner, further stated that her estranged spouse earned $19.5 million in 2022. Consequently, she requested monthly child support payments amounting to $248,444.
Christine recognizes that in the future, she and the children will need to find a new place to live. However, at this stage of the case, she lacks the necessary funds to secure housing that would allow the children to maintain the same standard of living they have in their current homes. The paperwork also states that Kevin has consistently disregarded and tried to divert attention from the fact that prioritizing the children's needs and preserving their standard of living is of utmost importance in this matter.
In her submission, Baumgartner pointed out that Costner has been covering all of their expenses since their separation. However, she claims that he has taken actions to make it more challenging for her to meet financial obligations, and she has no assurance that he will continue to do so in the future. Furthermore, Kevin has not shown a willingness to commit to paying an appropriate amount of child support, according to her allegations. Although she has been willing to leave the family home, she cannot do so without support from Kevin.
Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner in May after being married for almost 19 years. The divorce was based on irreconcilable differences, as stated in the legal paperwork. Court documents revealed that Baumgartner mentioned the couple had separated on April 11. Costner, who is known for his role in "No Way Out," responded to the filing the following day, also citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
Costner’s filing mentioned that he and his spouse had signed a prenuptial agreement before getting married in 2004. They both requested joint custody of their three children. Additionally, Costner has shared custody of his daughters Annie, 39, and Lily, 36, as well as his son Joe, 35, from his previous marriage with Cindy Silva, and his son Liam, 27, from his previous marriage with Bridget Rooney.
A representative for Costner, who is an Emmy winner, expressed sorrow over the circumstances that led to his involvement in a divorce proceeding. The representative requested that Costner, Christine, and their children's privacy be respected during this challenging period.
A source recently informed Us that the situation between the couple may worsen in the future. According to an insider, Kevin firmly believes that Christine should adhere to the terms of their prenuptial agreement, which states that she has 30 days to vacate the premises after filing for divorce. This disagreement could potentially lead to a bitter legal battle, as Kevin is known for his strong convictions and unwavering stubbornness.
Another source revealed that Christine believes Kevin should be the one to leave their property. She is deeply resentful towards him, as she blames his prioritization of work over their family for the demise of their marriage.
