According to reports, Kevin Costner has initiated legal proceedings to remove his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, from their jointly owned property, citing a contentious separation as the cause for the dispute.
As per a report by TMZ on June 13, the 68-year-old Yellowstone star has claimed that his ex-wife, 49-year-old Baumgartner, is refusing to leave their home despite their prenuptial agreement which grants her 30 days to vacate the property after filing for divorce. Costner has accused the former model of using the situation to coerce him into agreeing to multiple financial demands. He has offered to contribute $30,000 per month towards her rental house as part of his child support obligations and is also willing to provide an additional $10,000 to cover her moving costs.
Baumgartner and Costner, who tied the knot in 2004, have three children together: 10-year-old Hayes, 12-year-old Grace, and 14-year-old Cayden. The former couple has kept their personal lives relatively private over the years, rarely making public appearances together.
Costner and his now ex-wife signed a prenuptial agreement before getting married in 2004. They have requested joint custody of their three children: Cayden, Logan, and Grace, who are 15, 14, and 12 years old respectively. Costner has five children in total, including Annie, Lily, Joe, and Liam from previous relationships. A representative for Costner released a statement expressing the actor's sadness that circumstances beyond his control have forced him to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. The statement also requested privacy for Costner, his ex-wife Christine, and their children during this difficult time.
Before tying the knot, Costner and Baumgartner went through a brief split after the director expressed his fear of not being a good father. In an interview with Closer Weekly in June 2018, Costner revealed that he was hesitant to have a child but realized that he didn't want to lose the love of his life over his fear. He said, "Sometimes you learn the thing you’re most afraid of will save your life."
Costner shared his insights on a successful marriage during an interview with Parade in May 2012. He emphasized the importance of being willing to apologize, even when you believe you are right, and being open about expressing your love for your partner. We have attempted to contact Costner's representative for further comment.
