Highlights

Tears of the Kingdom's DLC has the potential to introduce an exciting new addition in the form of another dungeon, which would run parallel to the Divine Beasts in Breath of the Wild. This new dungeon, known as the Light Temple, would offer players a captivating experience in a stunning golden setting.

All the existing dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom are intricately tied to different elements, each featuring its own respective Sage to guide players through the challenges they face.

The addition of a Zonai-themed Light Temple would be a perfect expansion and provide an unforgettable Zelda dungeon experience. This article contains spoilers for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It has been some time since the release of Tears of the Kingdom, and players are still immersed in its vast world. Despite its predecessor Breath of the Wild, the shared Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom still feels exciting due to the addition of new content such as sky islands and an underground map. While many fans are anticipating DLC, not because the game lacks things to do, but because of the precedent set by Breath of the Wild's season pass.

Tears of the Kingdom Has Dungeons Devoted To Most Of Its Elements

Some of the highlights in Tears of the Kingdom occur when the expansive world converges into four captivating dungeons, each representing a different element associated with Hyrule's tribes. Similar to the nonlinear progression found in Breath of the Wild's Divine Beasts, these dungeons possess their own distinct charm and even feature a unique item specific to each one. In line with the previous addition of The Champions' Ballad DLC, Tears of the Kingdom's DLC has the potential to introduce another remarkable dungeon to this collection, where its theme is already discernible.

In Tears of the Kingdom, there are dungeons known by unique names, each with its own historical significance. However, what unites them all is their elemental themes. The Rito can stumble upon the Wind Temple, while the Gorons inhabit the Fire Temple, and so on. Every temple has its corresponding Sage, except for one partially devoted to Mineru, the Sage of Spirit. This temple takes the form of a cosmic ascent followed by a descent into the Depths. One might perceive Ganondorf's personal Darkness Temple as the ultimate dungeon, with the Zonai Shrines collectively representing Rauru's Light Temple.

However, that last one is a stretch. While there is a Temple of Time in Tears of the Kingdom, it is located on the Great Sky Island tutorial area, which in hindsight feels like an oversized dungeon. Although the Zonai Shrines do offer Blessings of Light, they are not truly temples. Hence, a DLC could capitalize on this by introducing a genuine Light Temple, possibly situated in the majestic region where the Light Dragon emerges as Link unsheathes the Master Sword. A location even higher in the ethereal clouds would be the perfect setting for a Zonai-inspired temple.

A DLC Light Temple Suits Tears of the Kingdom Perfectly

To enhance the experience of Tears of the Kingdom, it would be prudent to introduce a new addition that mirrors the extra dungeon found in the final DLC of Breath of the Wild. Despite the disappearance of most ancient Sheikah technology in Tears of the Kingdom, a captivating allusion to it can be discovered within a newly connected Yiga cave adjacent to the former Shrine of Resurrection. Conquering this challenging cave would reward players with a Zonai bike blueprint, reminiscent of the awe-inspiring Master Cycle Zero that Link attained upon completing The Champions' Ballad. To truly elevate Tears of the Kingdom's DLC, it should take inspiration from the structure and design of this remarkable DLC.

Rauru, replacing Monk Maz Koshia, would guide Link through new trials. Eventually, Link would return to the Great Sky Island where he would face the final dungeon. Although relying on his borrowed right arm from Rauru, this would parallel the fifth Divine Beast dungeon specifically designed for Link. In this scenario, Rauru's spirit could manifest as the boss, providing further context to his involvement in Tears of the Kingdom's ending. While the DLC for Tears of the Kingdom has yet to be confirmed, it is likely that a Zonai-focused Light Temple would be the ideal destination, offering a unique and memorable Zelda dungeon experience.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
