Dave Filoni hinted at his future plans for Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee in the Star Wars universe eight years ago. Their once close friendship turned sour when Offee falsely accused Ahsoka of bombing the Jedi Temple in The Clone Wars series, resulting in Offee's arrest and Ahsoka's departure from the Jedi Order. The Clone Wars series was abruptly canceled, leaving their story unresolved. However, during The Untold Clone Wars panel at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015, Filoni addressed the fate of Barriss Offee, mentioning that he had preserved the character for a future storyline.
Barriss was initially supposed to detonate the nano-droids like Letta Turmond. However, I decided to spare Barriss and removed that part from the script. I had plans for Barriss, and still do. Will Ahsoka and Barriss ever cross paths again? That is a fantastic question. It could make a compelling story, but it is not something we will explore at this moment.
Filoni's decision to keep Barriss alive gives her the opportunity to appear in a future storyline, something that hasn't happened since 2013. Despite not meeting in the rest of The Clone Wars or Star Wars Rebels, a potential meeting between Ahsoka and Barriss could be explored in an upcoming project, with Ahsoka being a likely candidate to bring their story to life.
Ahsoka And Barriss' Confrontation Is Inevitable
After their last encounter in "The Wrong Jedi" episode of The Clone Wars, Ahsoka and Barriss have not crossed paths. However, it seems inevitable that their paths will intersect again. Although there were speculations that Barriss could be the Seventh Sister Inquisitor in Rebels, it was later confirmed that they were separate individuals. Nevertheless, a new Inquisitor will emerge in Ahsoka's life years after the presumed disappearance of the group, making Barriss a likely candidate once more.
Despite having moved on from the betrayal by her former friend, Ahsoka continues to be affected by Barriss' actions. It is worth noting that Barriss was not entirely wrong in her critiques of the Jedi Order. She highlighted certain truths that even Ahsoka recognized, leading her to depart from the Order. While Barriss ultimately succumbed to the dark side to prove her point, making it somewhat irrelevant, Ahsoka endured the consequences of Order 66 and witnessed the horrors brought about by the Empire. If Barriss were to make a comeback in the Star Wars universe, a confrontation between her and Ahsoka could fulfill Filoni's hint and bring a fresh perspective to the story.
