The Disturbing Trend of Korok Torture in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A player in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sparked controversy by creating a 'Korok kebab' torture device for the game's beloved plant-like creatures The player posted a video of the kebab in action on social media, drawing both admiration and concern from fellow gamers

A player in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom took part in some questionable activity by creating a makeshift "Korok kebab" through Korok torture. This player shared a video of their actions on social media, which received mixed reactions from other Tears of the Kingdom players. While some complimented the player, others expressed concern for their mental health.

As Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to Breath of the Wild, players expected to see the return of the Koroks and the infamous collection of Korok Seeds. However, as the rewards for collecting every seed are the same across both entries, players were left feeling disappointed. Despite the disappointment, collecting Korok Seeds remains necessary for expanding Link's weapon inventory. With the addition of Link's new Ultrahand and Autobuild abilities in Tears of the Kingdom, players can now exact a degree of cathartic vengeance upon the Koroks. Although the Koroks themselves cannot be permanently killed, players continue to build outrageous gadgets to torture them.

On Reddit's r/tearsofthekingdom subreddit, a user by the name of wanderXV has created a device that is both impressive and morbid. The Korok kebab device is similar to other torture devices used on Koroks in Tears of the Kingdom, and is made from nearby wood and Zonai devices found in wanderXV's inventory. The device features a big wheel attached to two wooden beams, which acts as a rotisserie system. Four campfires are placed beneath the device to roast five Koroks during its rotations. To activate the device, an arrow is shot at the big wheel, which is attached to a motor and reinforced with wood and Zonai devices on one side. This is done not just for aesthetic reasons, but also to ensure the device remains sturdy during use.

WanderXV's 16-second video of the Korok kebab device quickly gained popularity, earning over 700 upvotes in just two days. While some praised wanderXV's craftsmanship and found the video amusing, others questioned the mental stability of Tears of the Kingdom players who create and share such macabre contraptions as kebabs and crucifixes.

However, the resourcefulness and malice of Tears of the Kingdom players have resulted in the creation of some truly bizarre and impressive contraptions. It is uncertain what further instruments of agony and torment they will devise in their unwavering pursuit to inflict misery on the Koroks.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found on the Nintendo Switch platform.
