When Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka respond to an outdated distress signal, they find themselves transported to Mortis, a realm that holds immense significance. Mortis serves as a conduit for the Force in the galaxy, making it a truly unique location. Within Mortis, resided three powerful entities known as the Mortis gods. Each god embodies a distinct facet of the Force – the Daughter represents the light side, the Son personifies the dark side, and the Father maintains the delicate balance between them.

It is highly likely that despite his turn to the dark side and departure from Mortis, Anakin Skywalker returned to maintain balance after his death. If Baylan's belief that Peridea holds the key to Mortis is correct, then Mortis may now be physically located there. The proximity of Anakin's Force ghost to the conduit of the Force on the same planet cannot be a mere coincidence. Following his demise in Return of the Jedi, he journeyed to Mortis (Peridea) to ensure the balance of the Force following the death of the Father in The Clone Wars.

The Star Wars franchise has already portrayed the recurring theme of Force ghosts aiding and guiding the living. Qui-Gon returned to offer guidance to Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan in turn guided Luke, and Luke himself appeared to guide Rey. Although Anakin's Force ghost has made appearances in canon novels, there are significant gaps in the storyline where he remains absent. It is reasonable to assume that for the majority of the time after Return of the Jedi, his spirit resided on Mortis to fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen One. In the Mortis arc, Ahsoka experienced a brief death but was revived by the selfless sacrifice of the Daughter. Since then, Ahsoka has been intrinsically connected to the light side of the Force. The appearance of Morai, the white bird, towards the end of the finale further emphasizes Ahsoka's continued connection to the Daughter, despite her hardships.

If it is indeed Anakin's duty as the Chosen One to maintain the balance of the Force, it becomes understandable why he continues to watch over Ahsoka. This is due to her association with the Daughter and the light side of the Force. Alternatively, the arrival of Baylan on Mortis may signify a shift in power. Baylan's animosity towards Anakin suggests that he may seek to remove or replace Anakin's role in preserving the balance of the Force. Only time will reveal Dave Filoni's plans for Baylan, but the presence of Anakin's Force ghost indicates that he fulfilled his duty as the Chosen One in relation to Ahsoka.
