However, it stands to reason that during this period, he transitioned into a mercenary role, with no Jedi left to hunt as the Inquisitors did in the Imperial era. Interestingly, Marrok's true connection lies not with Vader but with the Nightsisters.

The demise of Marrok in Ahsoka episode 4 unveiled the revelation that the Inquisitor had been infused with ancient Nightsister magic all along. Engulfed in a burst of vivid green smoke following his intense duel with Ahsoka, this particular hue aligns with the distinctive color of the mystical arts practiced by the Nightsisters. This similarity has sparked speculation that Marrok might be the presumed dead Eighth Brother, who had a fatal fall on Malachor. It is conceivable, though, that someone retrieved Marrok's lifeless body and utilized the mystical powers of Morgan Elsbeth or another Nightsister to revive him, serving their own mysterious purposes. Considering the vivid green smoke that emanated from Marrok upon his demise, it would be more plausible if he were a Nightbrother. He might have stumbled upon the armor of the Eighth Brother and seized it for his defense, or perhaps he initially belonged to the Nightbrothers and later collaborated as an Inquisitor alongside Morgan.

Although it would have been exciting to see characters like Starkiller or Ezra revealed as Marrok, none of the theories made sense when considering their backstories and the overall narrative of Ahsoka. The show had already confirmed that the story would take place in another galaxy, an aspect that wouldn't interest other Star Wars characters unless they had some connection or alliance with Thrawn. For Ezra to return to the galaxy without Thrawn, only to eventually retrieve him with Morgan's team, would be illogical. Therefore, it is more plausible for Marrok to be associated with the Nightsisters and their magical powers in order to align better with the story and its characters.

It's possible that the Nightsisters' magic is connected to Peridea, which could explain Marrok's role and presence. Various characters have already made notable appearances, such as Anakin Skywalker returning in the fourth episode of Ahsoka, and there are other possibilities that would make more sense than any Marrok theories.
