WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka episode 3.
Summary
Ahsoka episode 3 reveals Hera Syndulla's child, Jacen, who is human even though his mother is Twi'lek.
Jacen's father, Kanan Jarrus, was also human, making him half-human and half-Twi'lek.
Jacen's predominant human traits indicate that the human gene holds dominance over his Twi'lek lineage. In Ahsoka episode 3, viewers were introduced to Hera Syndulla's child, who despite having a Twi'lek mother, is portrayed as a human character. Ahsoka's ongoing exploration of characters and narratives from Star Wars Rebels now revolves around Hera Syndulla, the skilled pilot of the Rebellion. Although Hera's child was initially introduced in the finale of Star Wars Rebels, this is the first appearance of the character in another Star Wars series.
Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren were in the midst of their Jedi training while Hera Syndulla sought help from the New Republic in her mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn. Hera's meeting with Mon Mothma and the senators turned out to be quite intricate, starting with a mention of her son, Jacen, who arrived shortly after. Surprisingly, Jacen Syndulla appeared to be human rather than Twi'lek.
Hera's Son, Jacen, Is Human Because Of His Father Kanan Jarrus
Jacen Syndulla inherits his humanity from his father, Kanan Jarrus, who was also a human. Introduced in the epilogue of the Star Wars Rebels finale, it was revealed that Hera was carrying Jacen during Kanan's untimely demise. This makes Jacen Syndulla a unique blend of both human and Twi'lek heritage. However, the dominant genes from Hera seem to manifest more human characteristics in her son, overshadowing the Twi'lek traits.
