While hanging there, Meowth glimpses a movie called "That Darn Meowth!" in which a Meowth is treated to delectable food in Hollywood. Believing Hollywood to be a paradise, Meowth resolves to journey there with renewed hope and dreams, ultimately leading to his discovery of the power of speech.
Upon arriving in Hollywood, however, Meowth is seen as a stray Pokémon and is relentlessly chased for stealing food from humans. A gang of Meowths takes him in, allowing him to roam the streets with them and wreak havoc. One day, he encounters a female Meowth named Meowzie who rejects him due to his impoverished state, expressing a preference for humans. To his dismay, Meowzie is horrified by this transformation and labels him a freak of nature. Heartbroken, Meowth recalls the first human word he learned, "rocket," and is inspired to join Team Rocket, where he is partnered with Jessie and James.
