Sydney Sweeney was quite secretive when discussing the upcoming third season of Euphoria, likening it to the level of secrecy seen in Marvel movies.

At a special event called "Sydney Sweeney in Conversation with Josh Horowitz" at The 92nd Street Y in New York City on Wednesday, March 20, Sweeney, known for her role as Cassie Howard in the HBO Max series, was asked about the progress of Euphoria season 3. The event was a live recording of Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast.

Sweeney joked that talking about Euphoria is just as scary as discussing Marvel, a famously secretive movie franchise. She mentioned how one comment she made ended up spreading everywhere.

In Sony's Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, Sweeney made her Marvel debut as Julia Cornwall, a version of Spider-Woman.

Sweeney recently mentioned to Horowitz that she won't be taking much time off after her upcoming projects. She expressed her excitement about returning to filming Euphoria, stating that it feels like home to her.

This news has sparked speculation among fans that the next season of the Zendaya-led drama series will begin filming soon. The next installment was not expected to be released until 2025, but production on season 3 is set to start in 2024, as confirmed in November 2023.

Details about Euphoria season 3 are still limited. In a recent interview with Elle, show creator Sam Levinson shared that he envisions the new season as a "film noir" that delves into the concept of maintaining personal integrity in a morally questionable society, focusing on Zendaya's character Rue.

Sweeney expressed her excitement about returning to the Euphoria set on Wednesday. She shared her love for playing the character Cassie and how grateful she is to have such a role at a young age. Sweeney mentioned her desire to continue living out Cassie's adventurous story.

The White Lotus actress shared why she believes Euphoria stands out from other sets she has been on. She mentioned that the show is unique because they portray characters that hold significant meaning to viewers. Additionally, she highlighted that the production of each season is the longest she has experienced, lasting between eight to 10 months for filming.

Madame Web, the Sony/Marvel collaboration, received negative reviews from both critics and audiences, similar to Sony’s previous Spider-Man Universe film, Morbius. Despite the disappointing box office performance, Sweeney remained unfazed, describing her role in the movie as a strategic career move.

In an interview with GQ UK released on Monday, March 18, Sweeney shared, “For me, that film was a stepping stone. It allowed me to establish a connection with Sony. If I hadn’t been a part of Madame Web, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to connect with the key decision-makers there.”

She added, “Because I did that, I was able to sell Anyone But You. I was able to get Barbarella.”
