Sydney Sweeney's role as Madame Web in Sony's Spider-Man Universe spinoff film has been confirmed, much to the excitement of fans eagerly anticipating the movie

Sydney Sweeney, the actress famous for portraying Cassie Howard in HBO's Euphoria, has shared insights about her role as Spider-Woman in Sony's upcoming Madame Web movie. Although Sweeney was announced as part of the cast in March 2022, her character has only recently been disclosed. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, who has previously worked on Marvel's Jessica Jones and The Defenders, Madame Web will be part of Sony's live-action Spider-Man superhero universe, which includes other popular titles such as Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Tom Hardy's Venom, and Jared Leto's Morbius. Additionally, a Kraven The Hunter film featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to release soon.

Sony is keeping a tight lid on the details of their upcoming film, including the roles of its stars. However, it has been revealed that Sweeney will be portraying Julia Carpenter, also known as Spider Woman. In an interview with Total Film magazine, Sweeney expressed her excitement for the film, stating, "I couldn't be more excited. I can't wait to be able to talk about it." She also shared her enthusiasm for working alongside her co-stars Dakota, Isabela, and Celeste, describing them as a "powerhouse of badass females" who had a great time filming together.

Julia Carpenter, also known as Arachne in the comics, became Madame Web in 2010. She can be spotted in one of Sony's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse posters, but it remains unclear whether she will be a significant character or simply among the many Spider-people in the background. On the other hand, Sweeney's portrayal of Madame Web in live-action is expected to have a significant impact. Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson is set to play Cassandra Webb in Madame Web, a mutant who has been blind for most of her life and suffers from neurological deterioration, resulting in partial paralysis. Despite this, she uses her psychic abilities to compensate and stay aware of what is happening throughout the Spider-Verse.

Confirmed cast members of Madame Web include Sweeney, Johnson, Merced, O'Connor, Roberts, Mamet, and Scott. Although their roles are still unknown, fans can anticipate the release on February 16th, 2024 after several delays.
