The post ahead contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

As expected, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse showcased numerous versions of the beloved friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, one character that took many fans by surprise - and left them thrilled - was Donald Glover's portrayal of Prowler, who isn't even a Spider-Man alternate.

Fans anticipated the appearance of various Spider-People and characters associated with Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but Donald Glover's Aaron Davis, a.k.a. the Prowler, was an unexpected surprise. Despite his brief appearance and being in an orange-tinted jail cell, Glover not only had lines in the movie but also donned the Prowler suit. Costume designer Trayce Gigi Field's Instagram post featuring Glover in the Prowler suit from the waist up provided fans with a clearer look at the character's costume.

In 2017, Glover had a brief cameo as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming but hasn't appeared in a Spider-Man movie since. While his identity was confirmed in the credits and a deleted scene, neither he nor his nephew Miles have been prominently featured in the MCU. However, his appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse raises intriguing questions about the roles of Prowler and Miles Morales in the MCU. In the absence of Peter Parker, Miles has risen as a hero or villain, as seen in the end of the animated film. Although Spider-Man is still present in the MCU, Glover's appearance in the Prowler suit suggests that the Morales/Davis family may also be active.

The upcoming fourth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man franchise remains shrouded in mystery, but there's a possibility that it could take inspiration from Sony Animation's films and the Spider-Man games developed for Playstation by featuring a team-up between Miles and Peter against a mutual adversary. It also indicates that Miles Morales' uncle, who has caused problems in another dimension, could be involved in some way. Meanwhile, fans can currently catch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in cinemas.
